IDF/AF (as it was then) F-16A Ser#243 at Brno, Czech Republic, 2004: This aircraft was the eighth and final aircraft to drop its bombs on the Iraqi nuclear site for Operation Opera. The aircraft was flown by Ilan Ramon who became the first Israeli astronaut. Ramon was the space shuttle payload specialist of STS-107, the fatal mission of Columbia, where he and six other crew members were killed in a re-entry accident over Southern Texas.



After spending a great deal of its life in a test role this F-16A now sits, preserved, at Palmdale, California:



Previously stored at AMARC, Davis Monthan AFB as an embargoed Pakistani AF F-16A (serial # 92738) The aircraft is now used by the 416 FLTS at Edwards AFB, California for flight test support & test pilot training.
