Red Flag 08-04... a touch late

Post by eaglekepr »

The third installment of Red Flag 2008-04... yes, 2008! Where are installments #1 and #2? Night shots posted exactly one year ago and then jets on sticks several months later. No one has ever called me timely with photos. Still, given enough time, I'll get it done!

These are just the shots I took during the days, grabbing the Indian Flankers and factory-fresh F-15Ks. Unfortunately I never got the chance to shoot from between the runways where everyone seems to get the best photos. Unfortunately I was limited to using a borrowed 70-300 IS for the whole trip as my 100-400 was in the shop due to RIAT 08's torrential rain. (Re)processed with Lightroom 3 beta (quite liking the new sharpening algorithms) and presented in a nice 1024px cinematic crop :)

Some nice ones in there J. The shot of cockpit's lined up and the last one stands out for me.

Thanks for the replies :)

I must say that the last one caught the mood... hot evening on the ramp, last sortie of the day. I can still feel the heat when I look at the pic.
The shot of cockpit's lined up and the last one stands out for me.

Would have been perfect if they hadn't put the spare jet in the middle!

Actually, I think the raised hood adds to the picture - I agree about this and the last being standouts.

Pity I took so long to find these, they are great!   I love the "cinematic" crop, it suits the subject so well! Might start using something similar more often. One does tend to get "stuck in a rut" using the "standard" 3x2 crop.
Still not too old to learn new tricks! Thanks very much for posting!
nothing is confirmed at a show until its u/c hits the tarmac or it is running in for its display.....
