The Great White Bird...Concorde

Post by Ben H »

Ok, post up your shots of perhaps the most amazing and beautiful aircraft of all time. I never had a chance to shoot her, only look up as a fascinated young boy; I'll have a dig around in some of my Dad's and Grandfathers old stuff tomorrow.
If only she was back in the skies today.

Im in the same boat as you mate - never really had the chance to shoot her properly - at least not with a decent camera.

Managed a few ground shots from here there and everywhere...

First 2 are of G-BOAB in 2004 as she was then moved to her "final" place. The next 2 are of the concorde at the Brooklands museum.

Here's one of mine of G-BOAB at Heathrow taken from a very nice vantage point on the day.

Here a couple of very old scans from prints of G-BBDG, taken early 80's I think, when I was with the Air Cadets flying at Filton. This was the first film I had ever taken with my first camera, Olympus OM10. These were the days before its' own hangar was constructed and it spent years outside.

Not remarkable having been taken through glass on a dark morning, but indicative of where the LHR Concorde is sits nowadays.

Taken from the Juries Inn Hotel, I could not wait for daylight as I had an early flight to catch.

"Alpha Golf" in her final resting place. Sadly outside for now, but very well looked after by the Museum of Flight in Seattle and there are plans to get her undercover sometime soon

I took these at Edinburgh Airport just over five years ago, as G-BOAE visited and then departed to London to take part in that historic farewell celebration at Heathrow with the inbound final JFK service and the staff flight around the Bay of Biscay...

Can't believe it's been a full five years without SST services.

Great shots...I sadly have none on film! But have quite a few of her on video at shows that she appeared at...I sadly have no means of putting them online though.

IIRC, spray guards relating to water ingestion and predate the accident.
