Hun-terrific Kemble
Hun-terrific Kemble
Morning all,
Spent a quality day yesterday at Kemble for this years Cotswold Airshow. The weather forecast was not looking especially good, a point emphasised by the heavy rain encountered on the drive up from Somerset, but it turned out to be not too bad in the end, with only a few short showers forcing me to put the camera back in the bag. A thoroughly enjoyable show all round, the Hunter finale was spectacular. I hope we get to see more of the two Dutch Hunters over here more in the future; two stunning examples, the T.8 especially Flapjack was bang on form in Miss D as ever, though he might want to have a look at the fuel venting system! '601 was singing the blue note good and proper too
Sad to hear of the news that the Dakota is making it's last public appearance in the UK before going to the US to be grounded- a real waste of a wonderful aircraft
Here's a selection of my shots from the show, more can be found on my Flickr, with more to follow.

Cracking as ever mate. Love the Hawk and Dak shot! Also a fan of N-321 shot with the sun on it

Great shooting, Shaun.
The view a bit further down the runway is really nice - as in your shot of Miss D on takeoff.
Nice ones of the Meteor canopy and "Royal Air Force" on the Reds' Hawk.

Re: Hun-terrific Kemble
Brilliant photos again Shaun. Hawk and Dakota is a smashing shot - love that position at Kemble because the backdrop is as clean as you like.
What was the Merlin doing in the air, thought it was static again this year?

That's a fine set of shots!
Re: Hun-terrific Kemble
The Dutch single seaters 'classic' bone dome is a nice touch. The Dutch pair in BW is great.
Re: Hun-terrific Kemble
First class photos Shaun!
It's wonderful to see so many Hunters in the air.

Ashley

A great set Shaun, love the Hunters taxiing. You can't have been far from me at all, was trying to get that Hawk/DC3 shot too but just couldn't get the right angle!
Re: Hun-terrific Kemble
Very nice set love the B/W Hunters
Re: Hun-terrific Kemble
Thanke very much for the kind feedback guys, very much appreciated
Not entirely sure TBH, I think I heard the commentary mention it was taking part in a flypast, not sure where or what for though As I said though, a very welcome bonus!
Hi Glyn, all these shots were taken using a Canon EOS 40D and EF 100-400 L body/lens combo
Having spent much of today going through more shots, my eyes are struggling to see straight! So, here's a final few additional shots, more can be found on my Flickr

Merlin had to depart to do a flypast elsewhere on Saturday morning, so didn't come back to my "Black Apron" until around the same time as XH558 was being towed out for it's display slot. Had to bring her down on the grass and get it towed into position for the remainder of the weekend for it's scheduled static display. Shame we don't get to see a Merlin display as I'm sure it's quite capable of a stunning routine.
It did kind of bring it home though when chatting to one of the crews: Kemble this week / back out to Afghan next week. No time to work up a display routine at all then.
Re: Hun-terrific Kemble
Shaun,
Wonderful set of photos from Kemble!!! Looks like you had better skies to shoot in on Saturday.Liked the eight ship Hunter formation, the prop blur on the Tucano, Miss D on takeoff in the second set and the Vulcan shots... Missed seeing the Vulcan on Sunday, but we got to see the Red Arrows and the Tornado GR4's.
