Laupheim Sept. 30, 2011 - ISAF CH-53GS @ Night
Laupheim Sept. 30, 2011 - ISAF CH-53GS @ Night
Hi gents,
here is a selection of my shots from two week's ago, an excellent "Night Photo Shoot" at Laupheim Airfield - Home of the MTH 25 "Oberschwaben" and there mighty CH-53G´s.
It was once again a very enjoyable day, and even a chilly evening spent on the flightline in Laupheim, when we could also witness a night flight too.
After we were in Lechfeld before, where the annually Oktoberfest of the JaboG 32 took place and the new "Monster" was offically shown to the public, my main focus was @ Night in Laupheim, one of only two CH-53GS during another Nightshooting.
Luckily the weather was on our side again, and we had awesome conditions during the day and even the night - off course
A big "Thank You" must go to everyone involved in Laupheim, and all the helicopter crew and ground crews that worked hard to make this shooting happen....
Everyone did an extraordinary job on that day..... As always a huge thanks and well done goes to S1 Info for preparing the shooting, base personnel and Fire Dept for their participation during the shooting! After almost a year of arrangements....
Ok enough for now, let tell the pictures the rest of the story...... hope you enjoy them once again, and comments & critiques are more as welcome.
Cheers
Mick
The CH-53GS prior sunset waiting on the platform.....what a beast!
After the first shot was done, we towed the CH-53 into a another photo-position for the nightshooting
And with some additional water, I could create my beloved "mirror effect" once again...
Gorgeous shot or not....
Now it was time to focus on the magical hour....
This time I asked for a favor, so that we could operate the CH-53 during the shooting....
This is the image I had in my mind, a CH-53 during the magic-hour.
Once again, the "Charly Horse" in her element - what a monster. And the rotorblades produced wind like hell, but it was more as worth

Great shots! The aerial above the national cross is interesting. I saw something similar on a Rhode Island C130J yesterday, fitted in the cupola hole to the rear of the flight deck.

Stunning set of shots there! You must have one hell of a tripod; the rotor wash from that beast has to be enormous.
