Superb post, allways loved the SLUF and i think the Hellenic birds always look good. That sun-bleaching effect is damned hard to replicate on a model.

What a stunning set
After recently trawling the Greek Defence Net site it seems the good old SLUF may get a reprieve, if Google Translate has got it right, it would seem due to cost and spares shortage for the Phantom, it is more economical to continue with the A7 as a platform for the AGM-65 Maverick & AGM-88 HARM...who knows, but I will miss them on my Greek visits, so I live in hope

Re: The last of a rare breed
The last news is that the A-7 will stay at least 2 years. This aircraft have a major role in LIFT. The AGM-88 equip F-16C/D for 341 & 343 Sqn.
About RF-4E the end for 348 Sqn is close When be operationally the DB-110 pod (335 Sqn), only 5-6 will remain in 117 FW Andravida to carry Astac pod.
Happy new year guys.

Hi Vasilis,
That is wonderful news, I have seen them for the last three years on a Thursday at Limnos, whilst on holiday. So looks good for this year again

Marvellous Chris! What a fantastic machine. How come some have black bands on the tails and others not?

Thanks Chris,
That must have been one hell of a damn good trip to Araxos
Green with envy, the only time I get there is in the old FS9, but at least I have those special paints to play with

Great shots of a fantastic aircraft. Love the heavy weathering on these jets.

Re: The last of a rare breed (more added on page 2)
Does anyone have a copy of the Dec 2011 issue of Air International magazine? Chris referenced an excellent article on the Hellenic A-7 Corsairs in one of his earlier posts. I tried to buy a back issue but it is sold out. If someone could scan and e-mail me the article, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
