Now how sweet is that? I really do hope to see this aircraft this summer as I have never seen one... Not even on the ground. If this Viggen is on the display circut this summer. Is there any reason why it would not be able to fly at a show like RIAT? I'm not trying to start a debate on safety and all that. I don't know what the regulations are. Could it fly and display like the Vulcan in the UK?

Had to edit... It was a fast post and run as I'm running late for work.

30 minute flight. Viggen also had company with a Saab Lansen up in the air  Great work.

But our "big" Britsish airshows don't even book our UK operated exciting jet warbirds - how many times has the Sea Vixen displayed at RIAT or Waddington for example? And for the smaller shows how much is a Viggen going to cost to bring over here? As appealing as it is to the jetheads among us, it lacks the Vulcan's pulling power so would the general public be that interested?

I don't think the Vulcan has much pulling power anymore. We lost the Kemble show due to cost (probably) and they had the Vulcan the last few years.

I'm not one to sing the praises of the Vulcan, but the endless millions of pounds pouring in to keep it airborne suggest that its still got quite a bit of pull to be honest. It flies people take notice - its big, its noisy and its very different to anything else - it sells.

Kemble always looked busy, crowd was many deep at the fence, car parks well filled, plenty of tradestands, reasonable weather most years, was the pricing on the gate correct for the acts booked? I can look at the numbers if they want if its cost it does puzzle me.

Ok. I'll slightly rephrase what I mean. I mean the level of interest is still there but it's not as much as before and some people are now not really fussed with seeing it or specifically going to a show just because of the Vulcan. I for one (keeping to thread) am way more interested in seeing the viggen in a flying display.

I am in total agreement there, although I have seen many Viggen displays before.

This is yet another aircraft I wish to see at the non existent flying legends style jet show...

With hunters, sea vixen, vulcan, viggen, gnats, f-86 and possibly more (?) cold war jets still flying the aircraft are there... if only the money was!

I have to say, i'd love to see this at a UK show, but it beggars belief how little i've seen of the Sea Vixen since it's re-birth; so I dare say the chances of seeing a Viggen are fairly slim... I live in hope though!

Just a reference.. as you've probably heard this aircraft is booked for Norway's Bodø airshow 2012 (about 10,000 visitors/day) and that's not exactly a short jump from its home. In a way comparable as going up to flying legends through Europe. Shouldn't be too crazy arranging a UK visit.. some day!

SwAFHF said on twitter that a youtube movie will hopefully be up this weekend. Viggen flew again (twice) today as well as Draken.

Looking good for April 2 and Saabs birthday... :snack:

Would be fantastic to see a Viggen, Draken or even the Sea Vixen again this year - the more cold war jets we have in the air, the better...
