I know that you have already been able to enjoy Egon Johansen’s superb coverage of this exercise, but I would still like to offer you some of my photos from earlier in the week. I was fortunate enough to spend two days at F 17 Wing in Kallinge, Sweden during the familiarisation phase of Lion Effort. These days were quite hectic with three sweeps a day with 20+ Gripen and the three Czech Alcas.
Please take a look at these pics from the exercise, and if you wish to see more, surf in on my website http://www.hepic.se

A top set!
Re: More Gripens
Very nice set and angles Bjorn. Presume you were on base and airside. Looks like you had access all areas.

Thanks for your kind replies, much appreciated!
Yes, I had access to airside, which was very interesting. Not only for the good photo opportunities, but also to see teams from four different air forces working together on the same aprons. As you can see on the pictures, Czechs and Hungarians shared one apron, and so did Swedes and South Africans.

Hi Bjorn,
Great Set!
One Question: Where are the SAAF Gripens based during their training period in Sweden?
Pieter

Thanks, Pieter!
These SAAF Gripen were brand new, just delivered from SAAB. After the exercise, I believe they went back to SAAB for some final updates before being shipped by boat to South Africa.
