Cad West 28th August - Mach Loop Part Deux
My first trip to the Loop last year did not go well. A dreary day in fact. So I made the decision to head to the Loop again, and after some very helpful public transport tips, me and Tom arrived at the Loop bang on time.
Now for 12 years I have been after one jet, and one jet only - the F-15. So imagine my absolute delight when a single F-15E, the only Strike Eagle in the Loop today, made a timely appearance just 10 minutes after me and Tom had arrived in the Loop! 12 years of hunting - over!
After that, I thought it would be was hard to see if anything else could match the immense feeling of excitement that I had just experienced. But, I was proved wrong. Hercs, Hawks and several great passes by Tonkas made the day one heck of an enjoyable one! Great company too, you know who you guys are. A Typhoon did come through the Bwlch and head towards Bala however - it seemed the Bwlch and Bluebell were the places to be today, but not for me, Cad had already made me very happy, and I stuck with it.
On with the pictures, taken with a 600D and 100-400mm lens. Comments and criticism are very welcome, I am still new to the L lens game.

Awesome pics of the Tornado on its side, such a fantastic site fully swept back.

Some nice shots in there, I particularly like #17 - great panning.

Cheers Yankee, been a long time coming. Cheers guys for the comments, the F15 and Tornado passes have to be my pick of the day, but the Hawks and Hercules definitely put in some spirited passes!
All in all a great day.

part of the XV Sqn anniversary scheme might be the reason.

Yes it is the XV anniversary scheme of 2005 believe it or not! Wierdly this jet is now on loan at Marham, rather than Lossie.

Posted the second F-15 and the close up swept back Tornado passes into the Daily Post (North Wales paper) 2013 Calendar competition, so fingers crossed I get a decent chance!

Well you will probably be really pleased to know it is also featuring on bbc wales news site too!
I am sorry to say that this is an example of very poor judgment.
The press in wales really do not need any more ammunition to be able to fuel all the anti low level people who are trying to stop the RAF/USAF/NAVY using wales for low level training.
Although the crew were probably not doing anything wrong, and definitely not anymore dangerous than normal, lots of people will not think this and will probably say the pilots were show boating.
Shots like these banded round to the press are dangerous and should be posted with care. It was shots similar to this that cause a total low level ban round the loop for more than 6 weeks and the serious repremanding of 2 experienced aircrew back in 2010.
But well done for waiting 12 years for your first low level tonka and well done for your 5 minutes of fame!
To say im unimpressed is an understatement!

Sorry to bring up this thread again, but the Tonka shot #11 has made it onto the BBC News Wales gallery. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-19481247
I also have a newsagency wanting to use some of my photos, so I could be on to the start of something new here.

Saw the shot on the BBC site this morning. It opens a can of worms when the "media" get involved and I hope that no harm will be done, after all the shot has been freely available with no copyright mark since you posted it.
Does it cause any issues if shots from low level are posted on here? In most cases obviously not but problems may occur for the crews if they are seen to be showboating and not concentrating on the job in hand as has been mentioned from an incident in the past.
I steer away from casting opinions re censorship on here these days, as mods on this site do seem to allow things to "develop", but I would have thought twice about posting the last shot at all.

Oh dear oh dear here we go again, looks like the loop could possibly be a quiet place yet again so someone can have there 5 minutes of fame
And Rick your comment does not surprise

Lozza - I'm not on about these pictures when I say something new.
To all with concern about the agency and the photos - I will ensure the loop is as busy as ever. No danger is posed in the photos, and I have set strict regulations on the photos i.e. I'm in charge of when it goes on.

Im sorry, but if you expect that be honoured its a bit naive. Please think long and hard and reconsider your actions, there is a reason why you are getting the same advice from several more experienced photographers.
If only the F-35B could loose as much weight.....
Re: Cad West 28th August - Mach Loop Part Deux
And you can see why aircrew don't enjoy going LL anymore...

Well enjoy your 5 minutes of fame, then be ready for the backlash from the rest of the photography members here and elsewhere, and these will no doubt lead to somebody getting marched to see a CO for showboating through the Mach Loop! That will result in another massive reduction in low level flying through the Mach Loop for an extended period of time, it's happened before and will happen again!
