Pic heavy - why?
Pic heavy - why?
Can I ask why people have to say 'warning pic heavy' and apologise?!! I don't get it, the more 'pic heavy' the better surely! It's a photo forum right.
Re: Pic heavy - why?
Because it can take the thread ages to load up for people with slower connection I assume.

I assume I'm not alone but too heavy and I can't be so bothered to look. My once fast PC is slowing a bit, mainly due to my own ridculous picture store and I'm sure there are a lot slower than me. I do think that sometimes posters couild be a bit more selective. You can always post a second batch if there is a lot of interest.

It also serves as a heads up for those on broadband contracts with small download quotas.
Some ISPs limit the amount of data that you can receive, e.g 10GB per month.

But that's assuming the user is only looking at plane pix here... If you have kids like have the allowance soon gets eaten up with films, music and home work!
I think the pic heavy is really a throw back to the dial up Internet connection days when speeds of less than 1mb were the norm and 20 pix would take an hour to load! Thank god for broadband !

Not necessarily. There are still some users who feel the need to dump their memory cards instead of selecting their best offerings. Not even the Vulcan at Eastbourne warranted nineteen shots in a row of the same pass, photogenic as it (apparently) was.
That having been said, if the photos are quality and some discernment is used when posting, I agree, the more the better!
