Nice set. Number 1 for me.
What is this pod under F-5?

I don't know the specific name of that pod. It is used for target towing purpose during air to air gun practice.

Great photos! Love the underslug pod.
I got a question, is 400mm overkill here? I'm going in 6/7 weeks and trying to decide what to rent, 300mm or 400mm prime.

On all the jets pictures I used the 300mm on my D300s, i.e. 450mm.
I was at the runway crossing spot (north side) when the Tiger was taking off runway 10 (pictures #1 and #2)
On picture #3 I was at the western crossing on the south side, runway 10.
On pictures #6 and #7, I was on the western hill.
You can find all the interesting spots on that site http://airshow-reviews.com/meiringen.html
You can even use a 70-200mm when you are at the runway crossing road when the runway 28 is in use, you are very close to the runway.
Otherwise a 400mm could very helpfull because of the high elevation of the surrounding mountains, you will always have a nice background
Cheers

Thanks Rich ! The base is more friendly now with the sun over the runway

Cheers for the reply! I think I'll go for the 400mm f/5.6 and see what happens!
