Some sunny Californian Phantoms from the eighties.
Three from March AFB. In January 1987 the 196th TFS (ANG) still operated F-4Cs in green and grey.




In June 1988 the F-4Es had entered service.


And one shot from nearby George AFB, Phantom Heaven with five squadrons. Almost all still green in 1987. There were more than 100 F-4Es and Gs on the ramps and I only managed to shoot 35 of them...

Great photos especially the Michigan ANG Flightline, I am restoring the cockpit of ex Michigan ANG F-4C 64-0707, seen parked in this line up.

Nice to see XV574 in camo, I have the Front Canopy from this jet bearing the name WG CMDR HANLON.

Any more photos of Michigan ANG 64-0707 would be nice to see...

A small selection of the mighty F-4 taken around the UL


USAFE F-4D at RAF Fairford in 1981 at the airshow - not the RIAT which was then held at Greenham Common.


RAF FGR2 Phantom on take off from the AAEE Boscombe Down. This was the Air Tattoo and one of two Bluebirds, this one is a 92 Sqd aircraft.


RAF FGR2 taking off from the AAEE Boscombe Down. A 74 Sqd aircraft marked with 56 Sqd markings on the nose as these two squadrons provided the display team.


56 Sqd RAF Phantom looking aggressive in a sharks tooth nose cone at RAF Wattisham.


A 74 Sqd Phantom F-4J (UK) in the original pale blue/grey scheme that the aircraft was delivered from the US in. Taken at RAF Fairford in the early 1980s during one of the regular airshows held at the base before the IAT took up residence.
