A350

Post by Kenny »

The A350 has been rolled out of the Airbus factory in Toulouse. It took seven days to complete.

Just doesn't look as big as the 777.

That's very impressive. I think it may taken a bit longer than that though.

Edit: The painting took 7 days apparently.

Isn't this model the -900 though which is meant to compete with the 777-200 ?

It just don't look right to me. Won't be rushing to get a 350 trip in a hurry.

I'm with you on that. And the black framed windows remind me of the Space Shuttle. Nose profile is a bit Dreamliner-y but overall it rather looks the part i'd say.

So we can expect to see that on the Trade Days at next year's Farnborough then.....

I agree it looks "wrong", mostly because the photographer has used a very short focal length which makes the nose look too long and the tail surfaces look too small.
nothing is confirmed at a show until its u/c hits the tarmac or it is running in for its display.....

I actually think it looks great. One thing that always impresses me with Airbus is the shape of the wing, which is more distinctive than the Boeing ones.

The bigger question is whether it will be able to be at Paris in June...my feeling is that it wont, however, if it does, then it will be extremely tight for time to do so.

One forum I went on a while likened the nose to the 146 and I can kind of see there point of view.

Foxfour - I hope the seats are more comfortable than on the Boeing 777. As much as I like the aircraft, the seats are not great for 12/13 hour flight in economy!

A friend who works on the A350 text me this morning saying it would be there. Sorry I haven't got anything more thorough than that but that's all I know!

In a few weeks I have a Brisbane > Singapore > Dubai > Manchester flight in a 777 Economy seat  Thankfully there's a free bar on the flight :heyhey:

That's different what I've seen/heard that say the A350 won't be at Paris (static/flying) although a possibility of an appearance exists through a 'conveniently' timed test flight allowing for a flypast...

Either way, First Flight is the first hurdle...

Take a look at the video below of the roll out from the paint bay. I think it looks the biz seeing it at all angles

The looks are very distinctive...

Looks like the love child of a Boeing 787 and a Embraer 190!

I might be strange here but I actually didn't find the seats in 777 economy that bad last time i flew on one. Will get plenty of time to re-evaluate that on my four 12 hour legs to from Sydney over the summer :snack:

Depends on the operator.

American Airlines 777 Economy seats are wide and have plenty of leg room... we flew out to Texas on one in October, was a great flight.

The return trip was on a British Airways 777.... the seats were much narrower and naff all leg room. After that experience I won't fly British Airways if I can avoid it.

Another generic airliner, people complain about the looks of the F-35 and so on, but this is just a tube with wings :P

Not my cup of tea ;)

I'm flying with Emirates, the legroom is ok (I'm 6' 4") but I have decided on the return leg to sit at the back where there are just two seats not three, so my missus and I can move about in our seats without disturbing the guy sitting next to us.

I have to admit though that of all seats I found the seats and leg room on Emirates economy A-380 to be the best and that Airbus seats are better for me!
