I still don't know how some groups think they can get one flying when they don't own the aircraft, don't have the spares, don't have manufacturers support for engines or airframes, don't have CAA approval, don't have trained engineers or pilots, or the tens of millions of pounds to get one anywhere near airworthy. I am sure they think they can get an aeroplane flying on Facebook "Likes" alone :loser:

When will these people see common sense and give up on this pointless idea of getting one airworthy?

Surprisingly few. Most Vulcan mobsters are aware of the nigh impossibility of returning Concorde to flight. They're nuts, but not that nuts!

Well, YOU should have known some design drawings were sold from DBH in the past for charity, and as the set of drawings can't be complete due to that action, there is another main and big hurdle on the long road to get one flying.

Returning Concorde to flight - things to do:

1. Obtain a Concorde, along with a suitable raft of spare parts, including engines (the easy bit!).
2. Recruit a team of professional design engineers, stress analysts, material scientists etc, with enough relevant technical background in their CVs to convince CAA that they can act as Design Authority.
3. DA team to review the stressing, fatigue life, corrosion performance, etc of every component in the airframe, both in isolation, and in conjunction with every adjacent structure.
4. Build a comprehensive structural design record for the design.
5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for each of the following systems: (a) Engines, (b) Electrical System, (c) Hydraulics, (d) Avionics and Instrumentation, (c) Fuel System.
6. Create and certify a CAA-approved facility, and recruit specialist engineers, to strip, service and rebuild at least 4 Olympus 593s to flight-worthy condition.
7. Do another 1001 things that I haven't thought of....
8. Congratulations! You are now at the position that VTTS were in when they first started their fund-raising.
9. Do what VTTS did, bearing in mind that your aircraft is far more complex than theirs, and that it has not been cared for with a view to return to flight since it's retirement from service.

Anything can be done at a price. In this case, I'd have a guess at a minimum of about £250M? :dizzy:

Agreed.

They said the Vulcan would never fly and although I really can't see how a flying Concorde is achievable; with enough money and determination virtually anything's possible.

Wasting their time, energy and money. Howling at the moon.

So why not write and tell them to support the Vulcan or Sally B instead rather than (wasting your time and energy) moaning on an internet forum?

Yes DanO, deriding them in that manner isn't the answer. Fine if you, like many of us here think it's a dream, but one which won't see the light of day and then move on. Quite frankly it's a cracking idea but sadly it will never become a reality. And yes,I have derided the Kinloss space park (before you point out any hypocrisy from me) only because it is a flight of fancy and there isn't anything there bar a runway, hangars etc.Unlike Concorde where there are examples still around in museums etc.

There are examples of Apollo Space Rockets in museums too, doesn't mean that a bunch of space enthusiasts are going to be able to get one operational again.

So you can't see that an operational runway and hangars for a Space Port, for craft to be launched from under-wing of aircraft like Virgin Galactic http://www.virgingalactic.com/overview/spaceships/ are considering, is viable.

But because there are loads of static versions of a very complex aircraft around, that is more likely to happen, than someone basing their air launched space craft at a working airbase ?

Am I missing something ?
Disclaimer-I have spell/grammar checked this post, it may still contain mistakes that might cause offence.

Sorry, I don't buy that. Kinloss Spaceport must be a far more realistic a proposition than Concorde return to flight, because it has the potential to earn a huge profit. A single Concorde does not!

Considering the compensation culture we live in now would BAE/British Airways/Rolls-Royce etc. who would have to be on board (no pun intended) for a Concorde to fly, allow passengers to be carried in case something catastrophic happened and they get sued?.

It's very, very doubtful. RR won't support the engines.
