Draken added to the SwAFHF fleet
Draken added to the SwAFHF fleet
Good news, the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight has finally managed to add the J-35 Draken to their ever growing fleet of former Swedish Air Force jets. The work on getting her ready for the upcoming airshow season starts right away. So hopefully we'll be able to see both the Viggen and the Draken around Europe this summer.

That's very good news! That video's excellent, too...looks a really well-flown routine. Shades of the Swedish/Austrian routines of old...great!

Wow... I cannot express how excited I would be to see these aircraft.
Here's hoping for a repeat performance at Waddo!

I take it that's the one previously flown by the Swedish Air Force itself. I believe they have a two seat Draken they are also working on getting airworthy again IIRC.
Great news, I hope Waddo gets them again, the sound of that Viggen alone is worth the entrance fee.

Wow! Great news! I hope they will be ready for Payerne!
Re: Draken added to the SwAFHF fleet
Superb news!
It's the Sk35 Draken (reg 35810) that's been transferred to the SwAFHF. It seems as though the J-35J is still in limbo!

I hope this gets booked for a display in the Uk at some point this year - been ages since I have seen a Draken fly

Dean is this aircraft airworthy? I seem to remember they had a second Draken and Viggen on their way but has this flown/is it likely to fly this year?

I'm not sure if it is at the moment. The single seat Draken doesn't seem to have flown in over a year, along with the Lansen, but the aim is to get the twin-stick in the air this year.

I adore the Draken, hopefully Waddington or RIAT can aquire it.

Re: Draken added to the SwAFHF fleet
sweeeeeeeeeet. Don't think I've ever seen one flying. I've not seen the Viggen since its return either
Re: Draken added to the SwAFHF fleet
Dean is right, I assumed that it was the single seater previously operated by the Swedish Air Force, but apparently it's a two seater owned by the SwAFHF. It's in airworthy condition apart from needing an engine change and some other small fixes.
Re: Draken added to the SwAFHF fleet
That is the strangest shaped jet iv ever seen, But very cool. Release the Draken! to RIAT this year please.
I don't know everything there is to know about our hobby.

Magnificent aeroplane - hopefully something we'll see in the UK soon!
Can't help feeling it's a pity our own Sea Vixen isn't receiving the same kind of positive comments.

Is it the same Draken which flew at the Malmen event back in 2012? Lovely aircraft if so... UK visit please!
Posting comments on an aviation-related chatroom, are ya? Looks like it an' all...
Re: Draken added to the SwAFHF fleet
No it's this one. The single seater is still in "limbo".

It is such a strange shape
I never used to like it when I saw photos of it but then seen a couple of Austrian ones at Mildenhall 2000 and instantly loved it, I'm hoping the F-35 has the same effect on me.

Apparently four flights were made today, looking good for Ronneby this weekend
