Re: CWJs day 25th May 2014
Does anyone know the running order and which aircraft are taxiing and which are static?

Yep, just 728, 904 on static, various reasons, cost being the main reason, come find me on Sunday and I will explain abit more about the operational reasons for not running her.
But we plan to have them both running at our 60th anniversary of the Lightning 'do' on 27th July where we plan to scramle them both from the shed at lunch time and then later if all things are ok to stream them both from the usual open day end of the runway.
The 27th will be the only time this year we run them together, so come and enjoy.

Shame it will be just the one, will any of the Buccaneers be running? My first time this week and I can't wait!

Sorry, but Lightnings are expensive to run and like I say there are other reasons.
Yes I believe so, not sure how many but I could well be 3 of them, serviceability on the day will decide that though
Just come and enjoy

Re: CWJs day 25th May 2014
Well the weather is looking not bad for CWJ day, with just the odd shower in between warm sunshine, with light winds. So good idea to pack in a cagoule.
And a bit of rain on the runway could make for some great shots of the spray from the aircraft. Looking forward to the VC10. See ya there!

Thanks! I was thinking of arriving at 10:30, will this be okay traffic-wise? I'd hate to miss the JPs...

Thanks for the running order, looks like it will be a great day. Is Canopus broken still ? Any chance it will taxi again ?

It's been £15 for at least 3 years while I've been going

The commentator today said the Comet (Canopus) is fine but its ground power unit is out of order, they are hoping to have it fixed again in time for the open day in August.

Re: CWJs day 25th May 2014
just got back from Brunty, was a great day, very big crowd, weather good, highlight for me was the VC10, very noisey indeed. Looking forward to seeing some photos on here shortly.
Re: CWJs day 25th May 2014
Just got back from the show. what a great day good weather, big crowd, and the vc10 debut what a great addition to the fleet, big, imposing and nice and noisy .
great idea with the vintage double deckers taking people up to the usually closed off area at the top of the runway for photo opportunities.
Big well done to all involved a really great day.
one minor gripe was with the totally selfish moron ( i refuse to label him a photographer )who wasn't content being next to the fence line he also had to stand on a 2 foot high box .
when I challenged himfor totally blocking my view he retorted with comments like "I was here at 9 o'clock"" and "no one told you to stand there"
99.9% of the photographers there behaved courteously and any on a box or ladder did so a couple of rows back.
Barring the idiot All in all a great day out and I really enjoyed it.

Re: CWJs day 25th May 2014
Had a brilliant day today, second time ever and I was pleasantly surprised to see how busy it was! The whole day was really good from the sight of 5 Jet Provosts, to the Victor making everything shake and much more. My favourites though had to be the Buccaneers, the Lightning and the beautiful but oh so loud VC-10.
Re: CWJs day 25th May 2014
I first went to this event ten years ago, and there was less than half todays crowd there then! A good day as always.
Highlight was the first run of a VC10, bringing the number of large Jets up very nicely (except for the Comet no-show.) The two Departing Gazelles that 'hover-taxied' up the runway to the threshold and then 'took off' down the runway, before a couple of flypasts, was a pleasant surprise. Everything else was great to see as always.

Re: CWJs day 25th May 2014
A great show again today, retaining that relaxed feel, despite significantly increased attendance in recent times.
Huge congratulations to all those involved in the upkeep of such fantastic old aeroplanes!
Must echo Halibags' comment in regard to a small element of the photographers however - standing on boxes, 'benches' and full blown stepladders pretty much at the front of the crowdline. Haven't personally noticed that in previous years, and I think it's quite selfish.

Re: CWJs day 25th May 2014
Been going for over 10 years and also noticed a significant increase in the crowds (which is a good thing for the revenue), but there are some folk who persist in squeezing into gaps that aren't there in FRONT of people who have been patiently sitting, thus completely blocking their views! May have come time to extend the crowd line a little to allow for the increasing capacity?
A great day though, and a big thanks to all involved in making these events happen.
