Crikey that is a real coup by the airshow organisers! Malta International Airshow looks like it's moving up into the big league of European shows!

Attending the airshow for the 5th time, no mean feat from the UK! I want to do arrivals this year, can someone tell me whether I can get tickets on the day, where the enclosure is and the best way to get to it please?
Many thanks,
Paul.

Thanks TonyB. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to stretch to the full 4 day enthusiasts package! Two days max I reckon.

The Guardia Costiera Italiana officially known as The Italian Corps of the Port Captaincies and Italian Coast Guard to some of us, has confirmed that an AugustaWestland AW139 helicopter shall participate in this year's edition of the airX Malta International Airshow with a static display.

The AgustaWestland AW139 is a 15-seat medium sized twin-engined helicopter developed and produced principally by AgustaWestland. The Guardia Costiera AW139 role is that of Search and Rescue. The Italian Coast Guard has 4 Aw139's, with deliveries taking place between July 2010 and February 2011.

The Malta Aviation Society is excited to have the Guardia Costiera return to the Malta International Airshow.

Unfortunately the dornier 228 from the german navy and the NATO AWACS are cancelled. The czech air force casa 295 is not going to be on static but for those attending the arrivals days they are still able to see it come and go during the weekend as it brings support personnel to the show.

On the upside, 2 L159s from the czech air force are coming (as expected..) and the germans are now sending 2 tornados instead of 1 :D great support from the germans :)

Roll on MIA 2014 !! Less than a month to go wohooo :D

For the first time ever in the history of the Malta International Airshow, Egypt will be participating with a K8-E trainer in the static display.

The K8-E ‘Karakorum’ is a two-seat intermediate jet trainer and light attack aircraft designed in the People's Republic of China by China Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation. The primary contractor for this plane is the Hongdu Aviation Industry Corporation. The K-8 variant was developed for export to Egypt in 1999, featuring 33 modifications to the airframe and avionics. Built in Egypt from Chinese-supplied kits, production of 80 Egyptian-built Chinese kits was completed in 2005, with license production of an additional 40 K-8Es undertaken thereafter.

The Malta Aviation Society is very grateful to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Egyptian Air Force for having chosen Malta to display the K8-E aircraft.

The Qatar Emiri Air Force has confirmed its participation with a C-130J Hercules, after the successful participation in the last two editions of the airX Malta International Airshow.

The latest model from the C-130 family, the C-130J Hercules nicknamed Super Hercules, is a four-engined turboprop military transport aircraft designed and built by Lockheed Martin. The C-130 is capable of using unprepared runways for takeoffs and landings, the C-130 was originally designed as a troop, medical evacuation, and cargo transport aircraft and different versions of this very successful aircraft now perform various roles.

The Malta Aviation Society is delighted for having yet again received confirmation from the Qatar Emiri Air Force participation in this year's edition of the airX Malta International Airshow.

The Armed Forces of Malta confirms the participation both in the static display as well as in the flying display programme, through its very capable Air Wing.

Included in the flying display repertoire shall be the Alouette III Search & Rescue Helicopter. The Alouette III will be flying the Malta flag to signal the beginning of the afternoon aerial display on both days of the show and shall be on static display as well, accompanied by the Hawker Beechcraft B.200 King Air Maritime Patrol Aircraft, a Britten Norman BN-2B Islander, and a Bulldog primary training aircraft.

Included in the varied Armed Forces of Malta static display will be the first ever twin-engined helicopter, the AW (AgustaWestland) 139 helicopter which has been added to the Air Wing’s fleet just a few weeks ago.

The Malta Aviation Society encourages the visiting public to chat with personnel from the Air Wing who will be by their aircraft and helicopters and eager to explain their varied missions executed 24/7 from their ramp on Park 7.

Seems a bit strange that the aviation museum weren't asked if any of their flying aircraft would be prepared to participate. They weren't asked to participate last year either.
