Two acts to tempt a super early bird buy

Post by john001 »

The announcement of which two acts would tempt you into buying a ticket in advance?

Make it sensible (its not the wish list) - maybe it will confirm to RIAT what we want to see most...

Mine are:
Ramex Delta
Mig 21 flying

All of the Iranian Air Force.

All of the Syrian Air Force.

Otherwise, I'll just stick to deciding on Friday night once everything is on the deck.

Confirmed days off from my employer.
Flares being allowed by the authorities again.

Unfortunately, none of these are within DBH's control.

MiG-21

F-22

I actually have no issue with buying in advance anyway, because I know I'll have a good time regardless of what comes, but this year I did upgrade to a Mach pass after the F-35 was announced! I felt it was worth is anyway.

Actually up until now I agree with you but coming from abroad is pretty expensive and unless RIAT announce star items well in advance I will be going to MAKS (can't afford both and MAKS takes more organising so can't leave it until late.)

Boeing Insitu Scan Eagle demo

Emergency services helicopter demo

In other words, I shall be buying the earliest, cheapest tickets that I can, utterly regardless of what is or is not expected. RIAT is much more than just the sum of its parts!
And as the smart ship grew,
In stature, grace and hue,
In shadowy silent distance grew the iceberg too....

Bought my ticket at the show so this is a moot point.

However the show would 100% benefit from Ramex Delta one of the two best acts in Europe.

The other being the Austrian QRA demo....

Get those two and you will be drooling rather than photographing!

I just go anyway, I love seeing all things Aviation so if any major star item turns up it's a bonus for me :dunno:

I'm more than likely to go to RIAT anyway, like some others... However, what would set my pulse racing would include;

Ramex Delta - the Google images alone I have seen just tell me that I MUST see them soon.

Either - Thunderbirds of USAF or Confederate AF B-29.
Now officially qualifies as a 'regular' at Famous Dave's - El Centro

 Real? As good as it was seeing two Mirage 2000s strutting their stuff I wouldn't rate it that high. Apart from the take off and first pass the rest of the display wasn't that special. I didn't think they were in the top two displays at Kleine Brogel  . Would be greatly welcomed at RIAT though

But aren't they still an air force. I'm not sure the Belgians even have one of those

They changed from 'Confederate' to 'Commemorative' about 10 years ago , as a sop to the politically-correct numpties who felt that Confederate was offensive.
Think they've currently got over 100 airworthy aircraft , so that would be about the same as the Belgians , wouldn't it ??

It will be interesting to see if RIAT stick to their guns, or climb down meekly and invite XH558...

I would have thought it will be making a final appearance at RIAT if it does turn out to be XH558's final season. If not RIAT's reputation might suffer not giving some people the chance to see it one last time-for those people who only go to RIAT as their one airshow every year.

Stick to their guns how ??
I don't recall seeing anything from DBH saying they'd never book XH558 again ... and wasn't it VTST who turned down DBH's offer , not the other way around ??
