2015 display debuts
2015 display debuts
We are only 18 days now from the new year, so I was thinking what new goodies may spring up for 2015's display season.
On the warbird front we obviously have the Blenheim, Hawker Fury, TFC's CR.42, Spitfire EE602 to look forward to among others (if only I could think what the others were right now!?); anybody got any others?
Also are plans still live for the Gazelle Squadron and Whirlwind to give flying displays? If so, there has never been a better time to be a vintage helo fan!

Re: 2015 display debuts
Thats a shame. Do you know why the restoration was stopped?

Re: 2015 display debuts
Didn't know restoration had been stopped on the Canberra.
It was in a rather stripped down state in the Hangar when I saw it earlier in the year.
I thought they were working on an issue with the engines, then were looking at a fund raising drive for the rest of the restoration.

Dave. In the UK.

Re: 2015 display debuts
CAF Canberra B2/6 return to flight has been postponed for the foreseeable future. However their Dove (G-DHDV) should be returning to the skies in 2015!
On the helicopter front, I believe the Gazelle Squadron will be flying next year but unsure how many aircraft. At the moment the Whirlwind isn't available for flying displays (but it is booked for static display at Cosford!).
Despite being for sale, Peter Vacher's Hurricane I will be around in 2015, potentially the last chance to see?
On the note of the Bf-109E which is heading to the UK after being sold by Platinum Fighter Sales... if anyone know who's going to be operating the aircraft and has their contact details a PM with such information would be appreciated!
I believe the Norwegian Starfighter is getting close to her first flight too... I imagine the price tag for that will be colossal!

A lot of us would love some info on this, because it's such exciting news that this Bf109 is coming over to the UK, but there's no way of knowing what's happening with it, and if it will fly at any shows

Re: 2015 display debuts
Last I heard the Starfighter is ready to fly, the only thing standing in it's way is a ton (or two) of paper work. I wouldn't hold my breath..
Re: 2015 display debuts
Confirmed today in the CAF newsletter that the Canberra has been put back together as a static exhibit and parked outside due to a lack of funds
Seems a lot of effort to go to, spending years locating engines, and stripping the airframe of the control surfaces, undercarriage etc, only to decide to put it back together.

I really would like to see that at a UK show in 2015. Does anyone know if there is any chance of the Gannet currently being rebuilt being ready for 2015.

My money is on seeing (1) a pig flypast, (2) a Mig 15 UTI, (3) a RN Sea Fury, in that order!
