Malta International 2015

Post by rob68 »

Can't see a 2015 thread so thought ought to start one.
Interesting comment on the Malta airshow Web site in regards Russian participants. Doubt will happen but happy to be proven wrong.

I would be very surprised if any country in the EU saw Russian participation this year.

Last time I went they unveiled the new Libian flag on one of the Mirage F1s. What happened to the two airframes, did they get returned or are they still in Malta?

They were returned after Khadaffi was killed. IIRC after that one of them has crashed.

Oh well glad to have got some shots of the one when I did. Doubt anything from Libya will show up again. Shame as it all seemed so positive at the time

We are delighted to announce that for the first time ever the Romanian Air Force has accepted our invitation to participate in the Malta Internationa Airshow.

A Romanian Air Force C-27J Spartan will be on static display at Malta International Airport. This will be the very first time that a C-27J Spartan will participate.

The Italian Air Force 'Reparto Sperimentale Volo' will be back at the Malta International Airshow with a flying display from an Agusta Westland AW149 helicopter. This will be the first time ever an AW149 will visit our island.

The Malta based, Italian Military Mission in Malta AB212 will also be participating at the Malta International Airshow in a flying display on the daily tasks the Mission is tasked in our islands.

The Malta Aviation Society organisers of the Malta International Airshow are looking forward to host the Romanian and Italian crews and we are also very thankful for both Romanian and Italian Air Force for accepting our invitation.

Egyptian K-8E to visit Malta for the second time

After the very successful visit last year for the first time ever, Egypt will be again participating with a K-8E light attack aircraft in the static display.

The debut of the Egyptian contingent last year during our airshow to display the K-8E 'Karakorum' and also a C-130 Hercules was a milestone for the Malta Aviation Society.

...Egypt was the newest country to participate in the Malta International Airshow. The success of such participation will be re-confirmed in this year's edition with a K-8E on static display.

The Egyptian Air Force has a total of 118 K-8E aircraft. The two-seat jet trainer/light attack jet was built by Hongdu Aviation Industry Corporation.

The organising committee of the Malta International Airshow is very grateful to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Egyptian Air Force for having chosen Malta to display the K-8E aircraft.
