Shuttleworth Military Pageant - July 2015 (Updated)

Post by Private Custard »

Well, my first visit to Old Warden this year, and it was an absolute blinder!

Today was the first time in quite a while that I'd used my old 100-400, and it performed as well as I remember. I also had the opportunity to have a little play with both a 1DsII, and also a 5D3 (thanks Harry :) ). Two shots in thei set from those cameras are the AB910 topside (1D), and the Dragon Rapide topside (5D).

The day started well, with me ending up in a perfect parking spot, and ended with some Old Warden Magic, with a little personal display for the few photographers that were left and a Westland Scout :)

Anyway, there are a lot of shots in this post, hope you enjoy looking :)

Fantastic set from a show that I really wish I had been able to attend  In such a fantastic set it's hard to pick a favourite but for me that opening shot is a belter :worship:

Damn and blast! Called it a day just after the Scout had departed as I assumed it would just land back on the far side.

A fine set. I was over by the Seafire for the departure too.

That was one of those lucky Old Warden moments! It was one of those times when I wished I'd done video. But just for you, I've put this together :)

Cheers Harry, and thanks for letting me have a play with the full-frames. I was amazed at how clean the files were compared to the 7D, which is as noisy as a drum kit in a library!

I left at 7:05, which was pretty soon after he'd returned, hovered and spun around for the remaining few photographers, and then landed back behind the trees again.

Thanks a lot everyone :)

I have another batch of shots to add from both the display as well as the departing visitors, call them 'the best of the rest'! It's certainly worth hanging around until the very end when the day's going well!

Cheers :)

I have a few more to add, including one that I found on my third sweep through Lightroom, my favourite panning shot of the Yak as he departed at the end of the day.

Cracking good stuff, as usual. Great closeup of Teichman in the cockpit - he's always got a big grin on, as if... I dunno... as if he loves flying those birds ;-D
