Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow but i agree, thought we'd see that bird on static for sure.

Also, didn't realise planes.tv had not done RIAT before!

Thoughts on charging £10 for the live stream? Not sure about either the cost - £10 for the weekend would be a better place to introduce the PPV model IMO - or the production quality that planes TV will be able to deliver throughout the event.

People will want more than shots of the burger van for periods of time if it's £10 per day.

I wouldn't watch it for £10. I'm not worried about burger vans and, as airshow live streams go, I can't really fault the quality of PTV's streams now they've got their satellite link working properly, I just don't think it's worth £10 to watch a video. I wouldn't pay more than £5, max, and that's if they do arrivals and departures as well. I also don't think it would work because
a) they already have people paying £3 per month to watch ALL their streams. They'd rightfully be quite miffed about PPV.
and b) if they introduced PPV, I doubt there would be many people watching.

Last I heard, PTV seemed pretty keen to keep the streams free, and once they've got the equipment, I can't imagine the streams causing much extra work/expense as now they live-mix anyway. Perhaps it's not excellent business sense, but that's one of the reasons I love 'em!

I don't think PTV has anything to say about what is charged to who, as this is all managed by DBH.

Very true, but even so, PTV subscribers were promised that they would be able to watch all the live streams both live and on demand in exchange for £3 or whatever the monthly cost is. Regardless of who makes the decision, this will still leave a lot of people unhappy. I would be if I were a subscriber.

And as for the cost of the stream... I'd consider £5 for the weekend, but I've just seen that they are charging twice that PER DAY! I don't think they'll get too many viewers, but if one of you lot watches, do inform me of the view count, I'd be very interested...

Well I will definitely be watching on the Friday and on the Sunday. I think this is a good idea from DBH and planes TV. It's not as if this is a standard air show, its the world's largest military airshow.

Good call in my opinion.

Still, this is a stream on behalf of DBH, which they contracted out to PTV (probably as part of the DVD deal). I wouldn't be surprised if it would not be streamed through PTV's own site at all, leaving lots of their subscribers even unknown of this, especially as RIAT has never before been streamed.

I think it is an interesting option for the people that wanted to go but were disappointed by the sold out situation. Guess it is cheaper and more reliable than E-bay second-hand tickets.

The layout is much nicer, this morning though the photos on the aircraft page were taking an age to download. Did tweet DBH about it.

I've got a new phone since last year and can't find it on the Play Store or on the link from last year, has anyone managed to find it this year?

The Android version (as of a few hours ago) is not in PlayStore at all. I have tweeted to ask whether it will be available for Android this year. Understandably, there's been no answer yet.

Does anyone really think the USAF will still add anything at this late stage or not?

The F-15E and KC-135 were added 3 days before the show last year so you never know.

Hoping that the Seafire does more than a flypast next weekend, beautiful aircraft, would love to see it perform solo

While I'd also love that, I think a solo display would not have enough of an impact on a crowd line as long as RIAT. Also, it would not be "fair" to give a display shot to the Seafire when there are many other noteworthy aircraft taking part in the flypast. Maybe as the flypast forms up and splits up for landing they could each make a solo pass? Either way I'm sure DBH will think of an excellent way of showcasing each individual aircraft in the flypast!

Looks like the show is being streamed live after all. For a small fee of course.

That French Navy demo at Yeovilton was insane, a must for next years Riat if the Etendards are still flying then  Not to keen on the woman commentator for the Typhoon though, very dull voice. :tumbleweed:

I think the retirement date is this year, hence why Yeovilton is the last chance to see them in the UK

A post on FB earlier today showed the P-1's departing at the start of the journey - aircraft concerned are 5504 & 5507.

Yep, good point :-). What about the surprises you know about but aren't meant to know about? ;-)

(which isn't to say I know something new about anything to do with RIAT by the way, because I don't!)
