Hi,
Fairford wasn't the only show on at the weekend, across the Irish sea on Sunday over 90,000 people heading just south of Dublin to the town of Bray for the annual display. On a slightly smaller scale to RIAT, the crowds were treated to over 3hrs of flying - including displays from the four main Irish airlines, the Irish Historical Flight (DH86 and three DHC-1s), Hunter, Strikemaster, MiG-15UTI, Irish Coast Guard S-92, the Irish Air Corps, a USAF C-21 (however its display was so poor it is questionable why they bothered to turn up) and this year's star attraction the Patrouille Suisse (with a little local help). Not bad at all for a free show.
Weather was cloudy but dry.
For those not familiar with the location, Bray is a seaside town just south of Dublin, and at 240m Bray Head dominates the surrounding area and lies at the southern end of the town. I chose this as my location to shoot the display. Sadly not C-21s, at 240m up I was still to far away for a shot. Quite pleased with the results from a great day out.

Once the S-92 had cleared the area it was time for the main attraction - the Patrouille Suisse. Over on the aviation waffle section there is a tread about "the good old days" pre internet etc when you didn't know what was due at shows etc. Well everyone knew about the Swiss, they even carried out their practice display on Friday, but very few were expecting them to arrive in this fashion - good to see the that somethings from the good old day survive….

Great shots from what looks like an interesting location. I certainly wasn't expecting to see the Patrouille Suisse!

Looks excellent. I shall have to look out for this show in future years and then come back to you for the best place to stand

A nice set. A pity the light wasn't a bit better but you can't have everything. Added to my "to do" list.

Thanks. One thing no one can control. What was fustrating was that less than 10km north it was sunny, I guess the mountains to the south held up the cloud.
Thanks John.
