1564 Flight Sea Kings...

Post by Mad Dan »

I've probably failed to pick up on something, but with the privatisation of UK SAR and the retirement of the RAF Sea Kings, has anyone seen what is happening with regard to 1564 Flight at Mount Pleasant in the Falklands? Is that about to disband or are they going to hang on to a small number of Sea Kings to keep this unit functioning?

First thing i noticed in the report is delivery by year end! Have the 189s been certified for use yet?

The 189s are down there and have been doing a lot of work getting up to speed. The first airframes arrived in February. I would think the arrival of the Chinooks will see the departure of the Sea Kings as there are procedural issues with civvy aircraft carrying certain loads.
