A beautiful selection of helicopter I love the Alouette with floats and the H-34. However your Whirlwind is a HAR.10 not a HCC.12. The main exterior difference being the HCC.12 had four windows in the cabin and the HAR.10 only had two.

Is that five Canadian F-104 Starfighters in the background of the Whirlwind shot?....

It's Point Mugu, you muppet - it says so on the tin!!! Mind you, to be fair, I see you got it right once........

Love the German Choctaw and Danish Alouette - I reckon I must have been standing next to your dad at Lee-on-Solent when these were taken - or possibly even on top of him!!!

And the 32 Squadron Whirlwind must be Greenham - with the Canadian CF-104 team visible in shot... Weren't the HCC.12s the Queen's Flight ones? XR486 and XR487 if memory serves...

Was the Italian Chinook Middle Wallop, by any chance?

It is indeed, the Tiger Romeos team + spare at IAT '77, 5 of the 22 Starfighters there that year. As discussed elsewhere Stu the Whirlwind is a HAR10 and was written off in '88, and unfortunately now looks like this..

LennyL the Italian CH-47 & Swedish Hkp-4 were taken at Broadlands House taking part in the World Helicoptor Championships which was the week before the Middle Wallop show, they still appeared in the static there.

I was there. What happened to the World Helicopter Championships and the 'SAR Heli-Meets'. Do they just not bother any more? They were great events.

Did the Light Stone/Dark Earth C-130's fly with the red/white/blue roundels before "tone down"?

Great to see by the way.

Another cracking set of scans. Never saw a Britannia fly  On a more positive note, the first RNZAF Andover is in the reserve collection at the RNZAF museum at Wigram, outside Christchurch. I walked through it 2 years ago  It's the only one left in NZ the others were sold off I think

Thanks for posting more, superb! Lovely images of the C130Ks at Lyneham and yes when first delivered the Ks did have hi-viz roundels.

This maybe a really stupid question are they C130s in pic 83?

They look similar but don't look quite right.

Cheers

Yes they did. First RAF C-130 with red/blue roundels was XV177 seen at Lyneham in April 1972.
