Just the B's, apparently.
With dumb bombs and retarded bomblets, why don't they just use stupid missiles?

I have rather lost track - is an RAF example still expected and if so has the pilot been announced? They made a big thing of it last time but it is rather quiet right now!

One of these arriving Monday will be BK3, the RAF display pilot is the same as in 2014 and is embedded with VMFAT-501 (as is BK3) the unit coming over with support from VMX-1.

His display achieved PDA at MCAS Beaufort a week ago.

Covers the flypasts they're doing, one in Scotland and one at Marham - same as planned last year I think?

Why did this come from? Do they only have one tanker?

Wrong NOTAM - NOTAM refers to the MATZ not F-35 movements.......
There should be a more specific NOTAM for the actual arrivals, however given the 24 delay expected this to be posted tomorrow some time.

Good job I did a last minute check. I am about to leave from Cardiff to spend a few hours at Brize then on to Fairford to see them arrive.
Would have been good weather for the trip today, better than tomorrow is forcasting.
Thanks for the updates guys.

The expected arrival time today was 1905 local, callsign was supposed to be Tabor.

I'm extremely miffed.... didn't find out until stopped for a coffee in Burford.... day off work wasted and can't have tomorrow off.

Can you not dash down after work tomorrow? That's my plan. Luckily cancelled leave this PM when I heard.

Too much work on sadly, doubt I'll finish with enough time to spare tomorrow. Gutted.

Won't they be in the flying display each day though and practising and flying off with the Reds on Monday, plenty of times to catch them surely? :dunno:

Yes correct, but people like to say "I saw the first F-35s arrive in the country" . Surprised they postponed for 24 hours just because the tanker went u/s. Surely they have contingency plans with another tanker on standby that the crew can transfer to? If this was an operational sortie, would they say " Sorry, can't go to war today as our tanker has gone u/s" ? Can the enemy wait til tomorrow? :ninja:

It wasn't an operational sortie, and even if it was, operational sorties often get cancelled if some of the planned assets are unavailable. There isn't a endless supply, or indeed any supply at all in most cases, of spare aircraft crews can just "jump in to".

Our RIAT live arrivals coverage was planned to commence today with the arrival of the F-35's. Oh well will have to wait until next week.
