Lancaster "Just Jane"
Lancaster "Just Jane"
Saw on Facebook last night that Just Jane is now in primer and there is talk that she might be painted white and will have French Marine markings, believe this was the colours she was in before her retirement.

Absolutely zero chance.
She exists as a tribute to Bomber Command. The Pantons will keep her in a Bomber Command scheme. Unless the French have suddenly stumped up an awful lot of money.
Re: Lancaster "Just Jane"
Agreed! The Panton brothers acquired this aircraft in memory of their other brother lost in WW2. So, unless some sponsorship-deal greater in significance than their living memorial has occurred, it aint gonna happen!

She's going into a temporary Tiger Force scheme, but I'm not too sure what that looks like. AFAIK it's not too different to the current scheme but will defer to those with more Tiger Force knowledge than I!

So, white upper surfaces, black lowers.

It would be eminently sensible to be as different to the BBMF as possible. Cost-wise, PA474 will always be a cheaper item to book, so the Pantons need to make sure they offer something the BBMF don't. A unique paint scheme is a perfect way to go about this.

Oooh very nice! It's only going to be temporary, with the JJ scheme returning (I believe) next year - so enjoy it while you can!
Re: Lancaster "Just Jane"
I keep dreaming that PA474 may one day wear something other than dark green/dark earth/black, occasionally waking in a sweat at the thought of overall dark sea grey Coastal Command colours.
Hey-ho.

There initially were rumours of this and it was also mentioned in one of the articles published recently. However, when the question was asked on their FB page, Andrew Panton quickly said that it wasn't the case. It will be in the scheme which will be used when the return to flight happens i.e. Just Jane serial NX611. He didn't state which squadron codes etc will be used.

FB does seem to suggest that, although it could all be smoke and mirrors for a grand surprise. A Tiger Force scheme would be a massive crowd puller in some respects and could keep at least one of JJ's Sqn identities. That said, putting her in her regular colours would have longer term benefits perhaps.

As long as it's not tiger on the port and bomber command on the starboard.
