Bruntingthorpe's Firebird !!

Post by bigcrow »

On Sunday I witnessed the unveiling of LPG's XR713 Lightning F3 in this stunning 56 Squadron ''Firebirds' scheme, representing XR718 which flew in these colours for a short time in 1965 from RAF Wattisham. Her port side has also been re-painted in 111(F) Squadron colours. She looks superb & the group & COAP deserve high praise for such an outstanding restoration..

Splendid - would be nice if one day the real '718 at Darlington got restored to this standard.

Great photo's, but when can we see them? I will be visiting Brunty in August to see the static stuff, but apparently all the Lightnings will be under lock and key.

Fantastic Stu, proper RAF Lightnings, looked a great opportunity, folks would pay good money for that access lined up in the daytime. Perhaps something the LPG would consider in future?

The F3 looks great.
