Great pics. More on that boat than the RAF could probably muster these days.

Since when has RAF used carriers, last time I am aware of is 1942/3 Malta reinforcement with Spitfires.

I don't recall saying they did use carriers.

Has everyone on this forum lost their marbles? :surrender:

Good stuff. I understood there was an exclusion zone - how high were you? I may be going myself in a day or two, so its of some interest.

Cheers

It's a box 2500ft high and 1 NM from the carrier.

Awesome photos! But a quick question... Isn't there a no fly zone placed around her? There normally is. That comment isn't a criticism.... it's a gentine question?

Edit - think I've answered my own question. The notam is from surface to 2500'.

RAF harriers were regularly deployed on the Invincibles, so not that long ago.

Fantastic pictures, glad you got decent enough weather.

Great photos - thanks for sharing.

Those shots illlustrate well that the carrier now only operates three types - the Sea Hawk, the Hawkeye and the Hornet (albeit in 3 different versions).

Photo 3 also shows well the difference in size between a 'Legacy' Hornet and a 'Super Hornet' - the first two on the starboard bow are 'legacy' - the next two are bigger 'super hornets' (I can't be *rsed to look up the exact designations - but you get my drift).....

Very interesting.......

Ken

It operates C-2 Greyhounds too, which I presume are still parked at Mildenhall.

I was using a 14-140 on a micro 4/3s camera so two times crop factor. At the long end on this relatively short zoom, I lost quite a few. Experience has taught me that for air to ground shots never go too long because the plane is moving and the ground are both moving so it can be difficult to get sharp shots.

Fantastic stuff, thank you for sharing.

Distance from Sheffield, and not being able to get a day off work, means I can't get down. Next time though...
