Departure day- Swedes
Departure day- Swedes
Anybody aware of a departure time for the Swedes from Scampton?
Re: Departure day- Swedes
I'm guessing not then?
Re: Departure day- Swedes
According to reports elsewhere between 11:44 and 11:50. Decided to give it a miss due to ghastly weather!

Unless they managed to leave before the incident they may be delayed as the runway is currently closed. From the RAF Scampton airshow site:
The RAF can confirm there has been an incident at RAF Scampton involving a civilian Gyrocopter departing post the recent airshow.
The civilian pilots involved in the incident were unharmed.
The runway is currently being cleared and will return to use in the near future.
Anybody with photos of videos of the event is asked to forward them

Its been over 2 hours now. How difficult is it to drag a knackerred gyrocoptor off the runway? What a bloody farce!

If it's civvy registered, they probably need to wait for AAIB approval to move it. Also the AAIB may want things documented before it's moved, or require that it remains in situ till they arrive on scene.

It also leaked fuel on the runway apparently, I doubt the RAF operates with that sort of thing....

I thought it was just a bit OTT for the aviation equivalent of a scooter, that didn't even get airborne, just tipped over in the wind and the crew got out unhurt. Three fire tenders, an ambulance, countless cars with flashing lights and sirens blaring, every man and his dog and the runway shut for over two hours? Spilt fuel on the runway? Nothing that a drop of Cilit Bang couldn't shift
