Malta Air Show 2017

Post by wezgulf3 »

Went for a long weekend to Malta for the Airshow, a splendid weekend with some fantastic locals who helped immensely in getting these shots from various parts of the Airport.

This is just a small selection so i will start off with the star item for me, And to get it with Fireworks really pleased me

The composition of those nightshots with the fireworks are excellent! I have to admit I'm tempted to visit this show, just for a bit of winter time sun!

Some very nice shots here of some rare scenes

No flying display pics though? what's the score there, too far away over the sea to photograph well?

Nice shots and well processed, not a fan of the tight cropping though, but each to their own....

The Display is over Smart City, I didn’t bother with it myself. But it’s pretty easy to go and do.

Some suggestions about next year not happening due to funding, but we will wait and see.

Thanks Sam, The access was insane. I really hope it happens next year.

An excellent set of photos. The fireworks over Kirkop certainly gave some extra colour to the evening.

As to the future of the show. The storm on Sunday morning resulted in the static display being cancelled, which in turn means less money to be put toward the next show. At €10 entry
it´s a lot of money. Added to that is that most people want only to see the flying and that was free......... I saw more people at Smart City over the weekend than were at the static display.

There was also less advertising this year. In the past there have been banners at various points, only saw one this year. None at all on the road which leads to the static display.

Hopefully the organisers can get the funding together for next year, it would be a shame if this was to be the last one.

Cracking shots! I got on board the Antonov and the KC-135. I went along on the Saturday, and the nose of the Antonov was like a greenhouse!

Security was beyond chilled out there. I was able to go up to many of the aircraft, no questions asked. My bag was never searched, nor my Passport checked. :lmao:

Some of the flying display took place on Sunday as I saw it from Valletta. A big storm system cruised over on Sunday night, but the heaviest rain was on Sunday morning.
