Here we go again...
Someone types Greek and immediately people go Phantom. Ever thought about Zeus, that has been at RIAT before already?

I know the F4’s don’t have a display pilot, but something similar to what they flew at Athens 2017 would be fantastic! Never ever seen one fly!
I believe someone from 'that' FB group posted last year that they'd spoken to an F-4 pilot who said they hoped to be flying this year. Make of that what you will!

They also have Apache and Texan displays that have never appeared in the UK....

As far as I know the Texan team, "Daedalus" has only appeared abroad once, at Malta in 2015. Which is a shame as I thought it a nice tidy display.

If we are talking Greek, how about a buckeye, Mirage?
When was the last time we had a eurocopter Tiger?

Has RIAT ever seen a Eurocopter Tiger? It definately wasn't in the infamous Eurocopter role-demo!HeyfordDave111 wrote:When was the last time we had a eurocopter Tiger?

The Greek Block 52 has many years ahead of it. The Phantom doesn't. Last appearance of a flying Phantom was 15 years ago. As years go by its getting less and less likely. A Phantom in the RAF’s 100th big bash? Of course the possibility would get our tails wagging. Also based on Zeus’s last appearance i wouldn’t be to fussed if it wasn’t to attend as it was displaying somwhere over Brize Norton.

Buckeye(s) would be a dream catch, I wish Tom would pull his finger out and get something decent..
An in service Tiger/Tigre has never appeared in the UK, we're more than overdue to get one/several...
You caaan't trust the system... Maaan!
Re: RIAT 2018 discussion
Tigers/Tigres are elusive beasts except in the countries that operate them. I saw a nice German & French army pair's demo of it at ILA in 2014, which was also performed during the open house at the French Tigre base. The French have already done several solo demonstrations at airshows across France, and same for Spain with theirs. There seems very little enthusiasms to demonstrate it outside the operator's borders The same could be said though for most helicopter demos in recent years. In that sense the German Bo105 demo a few years back already was an incredible catch.
And about the Greeks, who knows they decide to send team Daedalus or Pegasus?

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion
The Tigre solo display from the French Army, flown at Payerne in 2014, was very impressing. Not sure if we've ever had an in-service machine visit UK shores? Elusive beast indeed.
Re: RIAT 2018 discussion
The mini “demo” at Tiger Meet 2017 was not only the first Tigre I had ever seen but was also completely mad!

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion
Having seen the Australian Army pairs demo of number one attacking as number two covers it and then into aerobatics (and doing the occasional photo pass, bow to the crowd and opposition passes), it made for a very photogenic display. Hoping that the German/ French/ Spanish do a similar demo then it would be a very enjoyable demo

Been a while since the Swiss sent the Hornet, which was always a benchmark display routine. A couple of static standard F-5s wouldn't go a miss before they all disappear either.
2014 IIRC? As for the F-5s, I ask every year and no joy .....
Tom
Might have been 2012, I think? VFA-122(?)
Tommy, I was referring to the Swiss when I went for 2014 but agree, 2012 for a marked USN Super.

Geoff, yeah I know I must get a grip and if I had a pound for every time I'd pushed for a Greek T-2 then I'd have £3.00 .............
Seriously, it's an annual ask and I believe that there are avionics fit considerations that preclude a long (for a Buckeye these days) deployment to the UK. Hasn't stopped me asking again for 2018 though.
Re: RIAT 2018 discussion
That'll be to limit the time taken to make the trips because of people stopping to take photos on an active airfield

Very good news! And I am very tempted to make use of it!
I just have a quick question, in previous years, what time do planes start to depart?

Lovely aircraft, but i hope they don’t go missing on Fairfords display line due to how small they are!

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion
That wasn't a problem when they had Vampires and/or Venoms in the flying display in earlier years.

Would this be a double decker with photo opportunities for remaining statics without infamous cones or just a bus to get from A-B? (E-W)
