To be honest, some of the places they took me to, I'd pay the extra £50 NOT to be in the VC10...

As long as you like Leicestershire you'll be ok. No deserts, jungles, far distant penguin inhabited islands or Canadian training areas available.

Just a car park, a really big one!

This is a great article, well done VTTST for explaining all this, and hats off to all these people giving their time up for the Vulcan; it almost makes me want to buy something from the web store!

However, it does beg the obvious question, what are the paid employees for as everything seems to covered with volunteers. Perhaps a similar article could be posted with a run down on the non-volunteers and what their contribution is?

Managing the volunteers probably, need more managers than staff usually, and it is probably the paid staff who organise, plan, and run the rest of it, probably.

Ah yes that makes sense thanks. Its a shame non of the volunteers are management material. VRT and 655Maps have been very lucky to attract management volunteers too. You can never have enough managers though, and best to pay them as much as possible so they manage really well. You wouldn't want them making mistakes or anything after all...

They ought to have a pitch at our Aeroboot / Aerojumble on the same day during Cockpit-Fest, I'm sure that we could book them a space!

I saw a facebook comment from the trust, recently, promising a 'status update soon'...
My cynical interpretation is that 'major news' has quietly downgraded to a 'status update' but also, if there was anything meaningful about to break, I'm pretty sure we'd get wind of it one way or another. That everything has been so quiet fo so long suggests to me that there really isn't very much to report.
Maybe I'll be surprised, maybe I won't.

Whenever the news comes, I wonder if the assertion made as recently as last Christmas, that the new visitor centre "will be open for business in 2018", will still be the case? Surely something has to happen soon as the Trust can't keep going on forever like this: raising money to pay wages for people who don't achieve anything while 558 sits inaccessible in gradual decline.

Great to see this thread remaining active.
With the earlier spell of silence, I thought it may have done a single, authorised, dead-of-night flight out to Brunty and everyone was now happy...

Go on other websites, including the RIAT one, you'll see plenty of equally crap mugs for sale at similar prices.
VTST don't have the monopoly on crap mugs or other tat merchandise.

The 'buy now' exhortations in full shouty capitals along with the invitation to sign up for the 'non-news' newsletter, certainly makes me wonder how I've managed to get by these past weeks without receiving the weekly merchandising update...

No sign of the status update then, I take it? :clown:
