Great opportunity or missed chance ? - Typhoon

Post by stevejb »

Coningsby's families day yesterday was a brilliant sunny day with not a drop of rain, unlike the forecasts of doom given out previously. The star of the static display was the RAF Museum's Hawker Typhoon, newly returned from it's loan spell in Canada. (It is to be on show in the BBMF hangar until September). As such the chance to photograph it outside was a great opportunity, but with plenty of space around it, not putting a current Typhoon alongside must be a missed chance.

Definitely both! You got some great shots in some great weather. She is such a beauty! A shot with her with an FGR.4 in the background would have been awesome, even if you had to spend time cloning out a big red sticker on the tail!

Lovely shots of a beautiful aircraft, thanks for sharing

And yes, "RAF in 'missed opportunity' shock!" Hardly surprising really.

Some lovely shots there.

In fact, they did position a Eurofighter/Typhoon next to it at some point as there is a photo showing this in the September edition of Aviation News magazine. Not a brilliant photo but one that shows both aircraft side by side.
