NATO Days

Post by Sussexlad »

The annual NATO Days in Ostrava sometimes attracts some criticism.

Having visited before in 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2017, it certainly delivered this year with good content both on the ground and in the air and all aided by fabulous weather especially on Sunday.

The Czech Gripen was again a 'star performer' with its pilot Captain Ivo Kardos taking the award for the Best Flying Demonstration. That and the various flypasts helped to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia very well.

It seemed rather strange too that the Polish put up more presence here in the flying display than for their own Air Force anniversary airshow - this event was certainly better than the rather disappointing show at Radom just a few weeks previously.

Number two for me - helps put into context how the spotters area work. I always appreciate that - fantastic

Lovely pix... was the Viggen doing a low pass or turning after take off in pic 2? Remarkable shot.

Thanks and yes, it was still turning onto the display line that unusually is 90 degrees off the main runway here and what makes it such a good venue for photography.
