How do you hide posts by users? I have a feeling I'm going to be using that feature a lot in the coming months.

I understand we're all bored, but this is absolutely ridiculous. Arguing about whether or not a demo should be able to call themselves a "team" has absolutely "Well, there's no need for that" nothing to do with RIAT. This thread is going to devolve down the same path as last year obviously, which is a shame because weeding through pages of mindless whining perpetuated by the same 5 people between actual relevant conversation is just tiresome.

I made an observation based on the very low expectations of most these days, someone contested that point I responded. Simple!

Just a shame there isn't a pedant klaxon in the Department of Defense or the back-to-front MV / CV designations would have been corrected...

The Canadian system is kind of fun too.

Our system stipulates that you must have two letters followed by 3 numbers. The first letter in every aircraft we fly is a C for Canadian, second letter for type...C for Cargo, F for fighter, H for helicopter, P for patrol, I think I’m missing one.

Three numbers is where it gets fun, with our F-18’s officially being CF-188’s, C-17’s are CC-177’s, etc. If we were to get F-35’s the common theory is they would be CF-355’s.

The RCAF have for many years used the KCC-130H, not quite sure why it's not on there.

KCC-130H is an unofficial designation, they're CC-130H(T) (they're actually CC-130H90(T) but that's another story..!)

I feel like we all learned something here today.

In all honesty, it's not too common to hear them called CF-18's (except when talking about the demo team) let alone CF-188's, and similarly I've never heard someone refer to a CC-177. So it's all splitting hairs in the end, but at least it's somewhat on topic? The first announcements can't possible come soon enough.

Do you think there is a realistic chance of NATO to send one of there E-3 sentry's this year?

Next year?
You'd like to think so, given that one of the themes will probably be 'NATO 70'
When's the last time one was there...2012 ? The following years' attendances were cancelled ( 2013, '14 & '15, wasn't it? )
So whilst there's still more of a chance than there is of Old Harry indulging in a bit of skiing, I wouldn't hold my breath in anticipation.

Wasn't the 2017 cancellation RAF, not NATO ?

Tend to lose track....it seems to be a case of 'E-3 confirmed.....E-3 cancelled' whichever it comes from.

Actually surprised it came for the 2018 show (RAF example anyway).
