Battle of Britain Airshow Duxford 2018

Post by Wrexham Mackem »

Here is a small selection from Saturday's edition of the Battle of Britain Airshow. This was a very finely crafted airshow, and another in the RAF100 theme of the season. Sadly 2018's fine weather didn't give us just one more weekend, leading me to break my self imposed rule of not getting my camera gear wet. The photographs are unremarkable, but the occasion special.

I can concede it may have some historical significance, but just how ugly...?

And so ends my season. I have a whole six months to dry out

Despite the weather, this show was a highlight of 2018, and the final segment of Red Arrows then Spitfire finale was perfect theatre in the air. Just what airshows are all about.

Looks like you had a great day Nige. I'll try and get some of mine sorted out soon.
Can't believe we're saying goodbye to the Tornado....feeling old or what?
Agreed on The Reds and then the Spitfires, airshow theatre at it's best. Every hair on end as each Spit taxied past at the end.
On to 2019........

Excellent photos in what looks like challenging conditions, many thanks for sharing.

Is that Lance Corporal Jones in the second image?

Hi, I love your photos. What camera and lens set up did you use for them? Thanks!

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like them. Despite being a very good airshow, it was a grim day for photography. Nevertheless, there's always a shot or two to had. I use Canon gear, these were taken with an EOS 7D mark II body and a 100-400L IS lens.
