Changes to the USAF Demo Teams

Post by boff180 »

It is unfortunate none of the teams are appearing in tbe UK this year.

Revealed yesterday, a civilian owned F-5 will be joining the Heritage Flight from this year.

In addition, both the F-35 and F-22 solo displays will now include Pyro!

Some very interesting developments!

Even if they did appear in the UK this year it would only likely be riat, where pyros are not permitted anyway, so no big loss !
Interesting choice with the F5 too, as apart from a few A's trialled in Vietnam, the F5 has only served in the training /aggressor role in the USAF....

Pyrotechnics are not flares...... they’re explosive effects on the ground choreographed to the display....

Always next year I guess!

That would’ve been some sight here in the UK, F-22 opening its weapon bay doors to a heap of explosions then at the end of its display going into formation with an F-5. (Possibly bought over in the back of a C-17).

Heritage Flights have appeared at Duxford too in recent years (mainly because the guy funding them often flies there too) and I think they've also flown the full demo on occasion too (F-15E?)

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the solo F-35 display in Louisiana in May, hopefully they will throw it around a bit!
