G-EUPJ A319 ferries LHR-Shannon tomorrow (23rd) for repaint

It will emerge in the 1959-1968 BEA livery (red square on a white tail).

It will, however, only get the underside of its wings painted red due to current wing paint reflectivity requirements, whatever that means?

No, that's the very rare sneaky beak communications relay Vanguard, actually operated by the RAF in BEA markings so as not to attract too much attention.

CIVB takes it's place in the DUB paintshop the same day and is due back in Negus livery on the 19th.

You're correct. I was going by the fact it left on the 25th not the 26th as originally published. CIVB heads the other way the same day.

Good evening.

Is there someone here who can explain why the A319 only has red on the underside of the wings? I´ve searched and the only explanation I find is due to " current wing-paint reflectivity requirements". I do realise that between the original and the Retro times and rules have changed.

Has it perhaps to do with an emergency landing and the ability to be able to locate it visually a little easier?

Colours other than white or grey absorb too much UV light which can damage the composite material.
