It looks stunning I wonder if it go to any other UK Airports I'd love to see it.
Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
BA's second heritage livery aircraft.
G-EUPJ A319 ferries LHR-Shannon tomorrow (23rd) for repaint
It will emerge in the 1959-1968 BEA livery (red square on a white tail).
It will, however, only get the underside of its wings painted red due to current wing paint reflectivity requirements, whatever that means?

That aerial must have caused some kind of drag on that poor old Vanguard.
Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
No, that's the very rare sneaky beak communications relay Vanguard, actually operated by the RAF in BEA markings so as not to attract too much attention.
Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
Such was the demand in earlier times for inflight entertainment that they designed this micro-aerial to get a decent picture!

Scramble are reporting the final 2 aircraft 2 747-400 with Landor and Negus scheme!

Good to see the classic ones coming back. Be good to see them again.

I'm not normally one to get excited about civilian aircraft - but this is pretty cool!
I guess a trip to Heathrow will be in order.

Cheers

I hope the Negus one will have full 'British Airways' titles and not just 'British' as in the pic?

Due back tomorrow at 10.35.
Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
That A319 is a thing of real beauty.
I genuinely think that I like it more than the BOAC 747

Due out next month I think.

Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
BNLY is due back at LHR in Landor scheme on the 8th March.
CIVB takes it's place in the DUB paintshop the same day and is due back in Negus livery on the 19th.

Spoke to a BA pilot yesterday, who said the Landor scheme was was due back on Saturday 9th?

Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
You're correct. I was going by the fact it left on the 25th not the 26th as originally published. CIVB heads the other way the same day.

Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
Good evening.
Is there someone here who can explain why the A319 only has red on the underside of the wings? I´ve searched and the only explanation I find is due to " current wing-paint reflectivity requirements". I do realise that between the original and the Retro times and rules have changed.
Has it perhaps to do with an emergency landing and the ability to be able to locate it visually a little easier?
Thanks for your help.
Greetings from Berlin.

Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
Colours other than white or grey absorb too much UV light which can damage the composite material.
Re: British Airways 100th Anniversary
Thank you for the answer, it´s logical if one thinks for a minute. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

G-EUPJ (BEA scheme) currently passing over Bham on the EDI - LHR Shuttle... (FR24)
And as the smart ship grew,
In stature, grace and hue,
In shadowy silent distance grew the iceberg too....
