The demarcation line is a crease in the wing shape. It's the same in both photos.

The 'stripes' also run in straight lines to the back of the aircraft in these photos - the US flag stripes were angled and got wider as they went away from the nose, with a straight edge separating the blue from and the stripes...

Perhaps the great orange one has a plan for them...

Although, as you said 'supposedly' - is there any way to prove the provenance of a photo like this, which could actually have been taken at RIAT in 2007 for example? The EXIF data or whatever it's called? Apparently instagram wipe the data though :dunno:

Not saying it's not recent, but just that it could not be.

To be honest, i tend to agree with you. We have seen 3 pictures so far, 2 in the canyon with one of those looking photoshopped, and this one that could have been anywhere in the world at any time.

I knew they were flying, but keeping up higher, or night flying etc. If these are genuine then it means a total departure from previous 'policy' since retirement.
The latest pic shown here, is obviously in a different area to the first 2 shown, as there are no mountains behind the aircraft. :dunno: x2

I was pointing out that there aren't any reference points that there are in the first 2 pics and the video

With a reference point you can fix a possible location, without one it makes taking the 'event' seriously a problem for not only me it seems.

like i said, 'i want to believe'

Can someone help me to explain what it is I’m watching in that video? Is it the E3 getting too close or is there a malfunction with the boom? Turbulence? I’ve seen quite a few of these refuelling incidents on line and as someone who has zero experience it’s not always easy to work out where (if any) the fault lies

That video has been around for years. From memory it was a little bit of turbulence that caused the boom operator to disconnect, then it got a whole lot worse and pushed the KC-135 down towards the E-3.

After that, standard "breakaway" manoeuvre performed with the E-3 pushing forward for a descent and the KC-135 doing the opposite to climb, hence it looks quite rapid!

Looks like a decent display, such a shame that it doesn’t look like it’s coming across the pond this year.
