What a great day at the Shuttleworth Collection on Sunday. Lovely weather... excellent variety of planes and gliders... all those Hurricanes... the mighty P47... Royal Jordanian Falcons... etc etc. And we even got the Edwardians at the end!
Changes in circumstances have meant I've been cutting down on the airshows, I only went to one last year (also Old Warden). I was surprised by the size of the crowd. Did something change in the last year or so? Is this the new "normal"? I'm not used to seeing crowds like that unless Vulcan, Red Arrows or 2 Lancasters were attending! I'm guessing the days of rolling up at midday and still getting parked in the main paddock are long gone?
Not that I am complaining! I am really happy if Shuttleworth is enjoying the success it so richly deserves. Newcomers to Old Warden always seem impressed by the relaxed atmosphere, the dog-leg topsides, the closeness of most displays, etc etc... and want to come again. So perhaps everyone really IS making those return visits now?!
This could well be the only airshow I go to this year too, but if so, I think I chose well!
Anyway, although I'm rather out of practice with the aviation photography, here's a few of my efforts from the day:

Re: Hurricanes, Thunderbolts & Sunshine: Old Warden (m43)
Not a lot wrong with those!
I, too, was amazed at the size of the crowd. I ended up parked by the fence at the end of the crowdline at 11.30.
