1/24th scale Buccaneer - Update.

Post by Maisie »

Hi guys, picked this gem up at Telford off a friend.. I have been waiting a year for one since it's release and finally got it on Sunday.

I have a few kits on the go, 2 large vacs, a Trumpy Mil-4 and a few small kits that are almost complete but since living where I do, my modelling is limited due to space, so apart from the Vac IL-76 & Lockheed Hudson the rest is packed away still. This however is getting started as it is going to be one mammoth of a task, and one that I am going to get hours of enjoyment from.

I'll be starting on cleaning it all up, then treating every section as a separate kit... nose section, mid section, airbrakes etc

For now though, just some photos of what is in the box.

As you can see, very basic and it will need a lot of work, also shares in Evergreen, Plastruct, CA glue, filler & 2 part epoxy!

Thanks for looking

Cheers guys,

Craig, I will be getting some more photos tonight of the parts up close to show the surface, the warped parts and the detailed parts, it's actually cast really well and the 'flash' won't take long to sort out.

It's going to need a few sessions in some hot water to sort out the warping, but that isn't a big issue.

I'm pretty sure it's 2ft long... I will have a rough look later ;)

Don't worry, the Mil-4 will get done in good time... Just not putting much online of it as it takes forever.... :cuppa:

I've decided to start on the Martin Baker seats.. as these are going to be a kit in their own right!

This is what I start off with...

With help from the guys over at The Buccaneer Aviation Group on Facebook, I've had some photos supplied of a Mk.6MSB seat, which has helped loads....

Update soon.... ;)

Little seat update, have filled the air bubbles and flattened the bottom with Milliput.

Back has had the resin ground away, also note the flat underside. (pictured next to the other untouched seat for comparison)

Rear insert to make it a bit neater. (needs trimming)

Thanks Alan,

Fumbles, this won't be hidden away, unlike the Mil-4 which has as I had problems with brittle plastic on the boom... it'll be back out soon enough though but I much prefer kits like this to work on. If you're interested in one, I have the details for the guy. :)
