Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist

Waddington 2010.
Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist
I'd love to see the Turkish Stars, but any F-5s would be welcome. Patruille Suisse are always good... Why not both!?

Would like to see the return of the Spanish Navy Harriers pair display
Particularly if the base fire service could spray the appropriate runway areas with water for the take off and landing on show days (just in case we don't get rain to do the job for us)...
More seriously -
Return of the C5 for static.
Su-22 pair role demo from Poland (was great to see again at Gdynia last month)
A-10 display
RSV Tornado display
U2 demonstration (think back fondly to RIAT 2017 and all the bonus U2 action)
Proper early bird parking for P&V.

Wouldn't a U2 demo be a bit high?
And boring?
Be cool to see one thrown about though

First public viewing of the SR72.
Another F117 (as they are flying again back in the states).
B2 on static.
Mirage 2000C FAF.
Rafale FAF or FN.
GAF Tonka's.
C5M before they all go.
Kc135 ANG model.
C130 as above.
P3 USN.
Just for starters -

Smiley noted so acknowledge that the response was likely to have been in jest...
But no... the take off performance/attitude and all the razzamatazz that goes on with the landing, involving chase cars and people sitting on the wings to enable the dolly wheels to be fitted is quite a unique (imo) thing to see.
And if it inspires young people (like that young lady everyone is so proud of in another thread) to engage in aviation, then everyone is a winner.
Might be a little more realistic for it to take the image of the showground than a satellite.

Bulgarians have been very rare at RIAT for some reason, never any fast jet activity. A Tu134 was their debut in 1995 and followed up by the An30 in 2000.

Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist
A few more helicopters wouldn't go amiss next year, especially if they don't depart from the Western End and ignore the FRIAT stand like most years
Would like to have the Caracal back, maybe a Tigre, certainly a CH53, love to see the Mil MI 24/35 in the air again, and maybe a Blackhawk or two ?
As for the jets, bring back the Harrier pair, a Hornet or Super-bug or 2, always nice to see the F16s, Gripens, Typhoons, etc.
Wasn't that bothered about the marketing stuff which came out full of errors grammar or otherwise, I kind of got the gist of what was being said But, I do agree that it would be better to save all updates for one day each week and not to drip feed them throughout.
Anyway, whatever is there, I will be there too if health continues to be kind

Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist
Make it once a month updates, from January/February time at the end of each month, then soon as it hits July updates whenever DBH receive confirmation
Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist
I'd be delighted if there were no updates at all, just buy your ticket and feel like a kid on Christmas morning again when you get there.
There's usually about 3 pages of comments on here after the smallest of updates, so wouldn't it be great not to have to wade through all that tosh every Thursday afternoon?

Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist
A self imposed forum and social media blackout could achieve not knowing what's going to be there and having the surprise on the day and also remove the heartache of reading all the tosh other people are thinking/typing.

Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist
i was looking at the participation list of some seaside air shows this year and they have a few interesting aircraft. The NEW which attended in 2018 seem to be currently showing the t-33 and mig-15. I think a mig-15 would be nice to see next year. On a little side note, two ukraine il-76 cargo planes were destroyed on the 6th of August leaving just 3 in service. This means we might never see a il-76 at RIAT again.

Apparently civilian operated types according to this report.

The Ukrainian AF is apparently the second biggest operator of the type and there are still around 100 in service.
Famed for appearing to put my foot in it, read my post with the voice of Stewie Griffin if it offended you first time

They belonged to Europe Air not the Ukrainian Air Force?

"Tribute to the 707" using no 707s?
Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist
How about a tribute to the Boeing Dash 80 using the same types mentioned... plus a 707?

Yep, that would make the A400 and the Blades seem worthwhile.

Sorry, I meant to respond to this - yeah a couple of years ago the Bulgarian Su-25 thing was one of the items discussed at the FRIAT Forum. I can’t recall now; 2016 maybe? Search it here and you’ll end up finding the crumbs of info.

Re: RIAT 2020 Wishlist
Someone may have posted something and I may have missed it but the ongoing return of the Italians would be very welcome. Their contribution to the flying display and static is second to none.
How they allow kids (and older) to get so involved with their static displays is very refreshing.
