Who needs RIAT when you've got Cardiff Airport!

Post by Brevet Cable »

Following on from the USAF VIP flights in recent weeks, today they have a couple more USAF visitors....a pair of Savannah-based ANG C-130Hs.
93-1562, which arrived yesterday as REACH 272
94-6705, which arrived today as REACH 402

Throw in yesterday's other visitors of a French Navy Falcon 10 MER ( '101' ) & an Irish CASA CN-235-100MPA ( '253', so not the one which cancelled for RIAT ), Tuesday's JP ( G-BVEZ ) & Strikemaster ( G-FLYY, which for some reason was using the callsign TARNISH 14 ) and Monday's French Navy Falcon 10 MER ( '129' ), A400M ZM-413 ( ASCOT 480 ) & L-29 ( G-BYCT, which was at RIAT )

G-FLYY is/was based at Blackpool in the High G Hangar , flown by a BAE Pilot I think given the Tarnish callsign , possibly operates out of Warton now

Tarnish 14 is an ex BAE Test Pilot on the Hawk. He now runs High G Ltd at Blackpool. G-FLYY is being used at Warton for 'tests', pilot uses his old callsign T.14 when using Strikemaster for BAE.
High G also run a Yak-50, Chipmunk, Bulldog and C172.

 Did seem odd, but that explains it.

The first C-130 ( REACH 272 ) departed earlier, the other one's still there.

And if you're into civi aircraft, there's currently a Croatian ( Trade Air ) Fokker 100 there.

No need to fear as that's when everyone who has heard of aeroplanes, owns or can borrow a camera or smartphone or just hates Israel will be at RAF Waddington being prevented from seeing any aeroplanes by the RAF and local police forces.

Been quiet for a few days ( not counting the ubiquitous Hawks ) but today's visitor at St Athan is a CV-22

Bit of a thread resurrection, saves starting a new one.....
According to the SWAG website, engine runs were carried out on XX342 yesterday.
This is one of the former ETPS Hawk T.1s.
From what I recall, Horizon did have plans to RtoF one of the Hawks they have, so I wonder if this is it?

Not sure where it's off to, but Strikemaster G-FLYY is up and about ( callsign TARNISH 14, so presumably off home -Blackpool? )

And according to the SWAG website, XX342's out for engine runs again.

An unusual visitor due in to St Athan this afternoon, according to the SWAG website..... a Mongolian Airlines B737-800 for a refuelling stop. Supposed to be due in at around 14:35hrs

Edited to add....to save digging out the thread it was on, someone asked when the Pembroke ( XX885 ) was being moved to Newquay.......according to the SWAG website it finally headed that way last week.
