2019 was a great year, while I didn't get around to do a whole lot of shows the shows and photoshoots that I did get to do were great. My favorite shot from last year is probably this one though, the two D-Day F-16s and the Dark Falcon in formation somewhere above Belgium.

2019 was relatively thin on the ground for me in terms of airshows, but nonetheless the places I managed to visit were brilliant. Arguably my favourite image from 2019 was simply a case of 'right place, right time' and for me encapsulated what a brilliant show the Paris-Villaroche Air Legend - a show that had a little bit of everything!

The subject matter in question is of course the Cocardes Marine Zephyr & Alizé, just after they'd been up for a short formation flight in the early evening (and just as a brief shower moved over the airfield).

2019 was a year of quality over quantity for me, with highlights including visits to airshows at Zeltweg & Šiauliai. However, pick of the memories was a relaxed day on base at Tanagra courtesy of the Hellenic Air Force. Being stood on the edge of the runway as three Mirages departed for a local training sortie was an experience to remember...

As for me, I picked the shot that is currently my wallpaper, taken during Ferté-Alais Pentecost airshow 2019 :

Not great IQ, neither rarities, but I am happy with the composition, especially as it was shot hand-held @600mm.

Not the highest quality I know but I liked this one taken at the Cosford air show in June.

Taken on a Nikon D600 with a Sigma 150-600mm lens at 500mm. Exposure 1/160 sec at f/14 with ISO 200 set.

One of my best aviation shoots in 2019 was with Timeline Events at East Kirkby. Very well run and highly recommended.
We had perfect weather with a stunning sunset, quickly followed by moon rise.

Hard to choose a single favourite, but I'll go with this one.

I've looked at your website to try & predict the shot that hopefully appears above! " Four full prop discs" just after the moonrise shot?

Yup! I've edited the img link to a smaller version to hopefully speed up the load/display time a bit...

I've been waiting years for a snowy Axalp and day 1 in 2019 gave that perfect day with sun, snow and moisture, providing me with probably the best single days photography I've had, here's the shot that got most reaction on flickr & forums

for most of the 2 weeks a couple of days of beautiful winter light and a shot of this guy taking off, hope you guys like
the shot as much as I do

Phantom power. Andravida, 4 April 2019. The Hellenic Air Force has only one F-4E squadron left: 338 MDV. 01505 still has the markings celebrating 40 years of Phantom in 2014.

My contribution comes off the back of quite a good year aviation wise but it wasn't difficult to choose my favourite. Seeing the both the 302sqn special Phantoms depart, literally as we had to start making our way back to Tokyo, is one of the best aviation moments of my life. This was also the last time the flew

I've chosen this one, of one of my favourite aircraft types - the Dakota / DC-3.

Taken at the Daks over Duxford event, which even though it failed to live up to all the hype, and had many, many documented problems will still live long in the memory banks...
