We have received communication from various squadrons within the US Navy who would like to send aircraft for static display at RIAT 2020. We are establishing formal contact with them and hope they will be present at Fairford in July.

Today our CEO, Operations Director & Head of Air Operations are travelling to Brussels to attend the European Airshow Council Convention. The event brings together delegates from 25 to promote excellence and safety at European Airshows. This year's convention will focus on the sustainability of airshows, in a period where Climate Change is at the forefront of many nations thinking. Our team also be networking with representatives from many European Air Arms and hope to discuss their participation plan for 2020. We therefore hope to bring you good news from EAC in next week's update!

nice update today. the news on about the us navy looks interesting.

Various US navy squadrons sounds interesting. More likely an E-6 or P-8 than fighters but still nice to see.

Solin FAA update, they are bringing all they can bring basically. Would be good to see the USN atleast provide a nice C-130 and C-26, plus the normal P8/E8. Of course there maybe a carrier around, who knows?

First meh of the year for me I'm afraid - the Wildcat pair a few years ago struggled with the crowdline length, I'd be surprised if the solo is any better.

Variety: yes, personal interest: low :dunno:

There has been flooding in Gloucestershire, but even with heavy rainfall between now and July we'll struggle to get an aircraft carrier into Fairford.

Not a blow your socks off type update but nothing to grumble about there. Been a few years since we last saw a Wildcat flying and it’s a nice bulking up of the static

Nice to see the RN out and about.

Nice to see a Wildcat flying, but I have to say last year’s wasn’t the most inspiring display.

Bring back the Black Cats, always thought they were superb.

They will return, operational tempo has meant they can't display as a pair this year so decided to display a solo under the guise of the Wildcat Demo Team rather than use the Black Cats name.

Not as epic as the 2 Sea Harriers doing a Black Cat esque display!

Fingers crossed for some Superbugs from the US navy

Always thought that the Black cats/Wildcat solo have always been quite bland every time i've seen them. The marmite of the airshow scene

Heh.

That’s what FRIAT looks like after staring upwards into the sun/rain for 6 days, sleeping in a leaky tent, and getting up at 5.30 sustained by “Kens Burger’s” and/or service station meal deals.

Starting to get a little concerned now, below in the papers today :-

'In the papers today - the coronavirus outbreak is still top of the agenda, and the UK's top medical officer is warning that major events like concerts, sports matches and festivals could be cancelled for at least two months in a bid to prevent the virus from spreading across the UK, according to the Telegraph'

No one can stop a simple flu-like virus like that one. Probably it is already in UK like in the rest of the world.
In most cases there are very light symptoms and people are healthy after few days. Older and already ill people risk like in the case of simple flu.

No one speaks about the number of deaths each year due to the simple flu: in Italy 4000 - 10000 each year, in Germany in winter 2017-2018, 25000 deaths.

check the data available in the net.

I do not understand that kind of panic but for political and /or commercial (pharmaceutical lobby) reasons.

Anyway in summer the epidemic will already be over.

So if RIAT 2020 is cancelled do we get a refund?

"Cancellation of major sporting events, concerts and festivals in the UK in a bid to stop the spread of the virus, which causes Covid-19.

England's chief medical officer, Prof Chris Whitty, said on Thursday that transmission of the virus between people in the UK was "just a matter of time".

A big if. We're talking about something that is over 4 months away.

I remember when the same mumbles were said when Ebola was the word on everyone's mouth.
