Nice shots. I've been working nights and thought about going to there this afternoon for a bit, but saw they were up on FR24 so figured they wouldn't be up again in the afternoon. Knew I should've gone in the morning and slept later!

Friday: 6th March 2020
My take on a cold bright day at Duxford made bearable by 3 Spitfires and 2 Hurricanes flying although the clouds did roll in at the most inopportune moments. The Yale was also up and down on circuits and amongst the visiting GA types was a small group of autogyros with a relative of James Bond’s Little Nellie’s flying in. 'Big Nellie'. Apart from the last one, in the order taken.
North American NA-64 Yale 1/3349/(G-BYNF)
Hawker Hurricane Mk.1/SD-X/V7497/(G-HRLI)
Supermarine Spitfire Mk HFIX/KJ-I/SM520/(G-ILDA)
Hawker Hurricane Mk.1/SD-X/V7497/(G-HRLI) + Yale 1/(G-BYNF)
Supermarine Spitfire Mk HFIX/KJ-I/SM520/(G-ILDA)
Hawker Hurricane I/DX-R/P2902/(G-ROBT)
Hawker Hurricane I/DX-R/P2902/(G-ROBT)
Supermarine Spitfire Mk Ia/QV/N3200/(G-CFGJ)
Supermarine Spitfire Mk Ia/QV/N3200/(G-CFGJ) + Hurricane Mk.1/(G-HRLI)
Hawker Hurricane Mk.1/SD-X/V7497/(G-HRLI)
Supermarine Spitfire Mk PRXIX/C/PS853/(G-RRGN)
AutoGyro Europe MTOsport/’Big Nellie’/(G-PAFF)

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
The IWM Ohka, which recently completed a very thorough restoration, has now moved to IWM London for display.
The airframe arrived from Chattenden in 2011 and was stored until the rebuild commenced in April 2017.
These pictures show the finished article after assembly, and then being dismantled for the trip South:

Re: Duxford Diary 2020
Thank you so much for these pictures of a unique aircraft. No instruments?
Re: Duxford Diary 2020
Fantastic. Look forward to seeing it in London.
Re: Duxford Diary 2020
Good to see that the MXY-7 has been refinished in the authentic colours, in line with the Nick Millman article on colours from the Aviation of Japan website

The airframe was missing many things on arrival, including instrument panel (and rocket motors !). While a new panel was straightforward to reproduce, there were time, cost and availability issues preventing a full re-fit. It hasn't been ruled out for a later date.
I was very surprised at the complexity of the aircraft. The wings and other woodwork were built to the highest standards, while some of the metalwork was more basic.
More surprising was the number of people who asked how many missions it had flown.......

Not quite Hollywood but BBC News were filming at Duxford today. Sophie Raworth went for a flight in the Aerial Collectives Spitfire T9/PV202, filmed by the BBC News Ecureuil II helicopter followed by the IWM Museums Mk1a Spitfire/N3200. Down side was the wall to wall cloud and naff lighting, and a cold wind. In the order taken.
