I spent the weekend doing the same in my garden Ian. Frustration knows no bounds when trying to catch a Bumblebee in flight.

You've made the best of it though, these are excellent photos. I might have to attempt photographing some garden birds myself.

Not being able to use the camera in this good weather is just so frustrating. I've been waiting all winter for a decent spell of settled weather to have a trip out to Lakenheath to hopefully catch the two remaining specials before the sun gets too high in the sky and the haze starts to interfere - that week finally arrived during lockdown, and now one of the specials has departed for repaint. By the time we're free again, it'll either be the height of summer or there won't be any of the specials left on base.

Very nice mate, we have a few Red Kites and Buzzards in the area but a bit too far away for anything great in camera.

Getting some lovely hedgehog footage on the trail camera though, love watching them :-)

A beautiful set of images, Ian. As a nerdy birdwatcher, my faves are, naturally, the Red Kites. Thanks for sharing these images.

I would be interested to know what kit you are using to record the images and would kindly ask that you to enable the feature on your Flickr account that shows camera/lens and EXIF data. TIA.

EDIT Just noticed the tags at the bottom of the Flickr page that is showing D750, Tamron 150-600. I'm a little slow on the uptake...
Cheers,

George

Well these fantasticshots have made me want to invest in a macro lens, they're great! I've only done macro with the lens reversed on the camera(yes really) and it was a complete phaff, not to mention an incredibly shallow depth of field. time to get saving!

Fab shots mate, you are making me interested in macro now. I could add a macro lens to my Canon 7d2 as that is currently redundant now that I have the 90D :-)

Thanks for the update. I, too, have heard only good comments about the Tamron macro.

Unfortunately, here in Oz, we're heading into the cold, grey and wet time of the year, so not many bugs to shoot. Once the Covid restrictions are loosened, I may go out to 'chase' a few native terrestrial orchids.
Cheers,
