Lockdown build 2.. 1/48 KittyHawk SU-34

Post by Fumbles »

Hello all

Build number 2 during the COVID shutdown. This time the KittyHawk 1/48 SU-24 Fullback. I fell in love with this aircraft the first time I saw it at MAKS 2017. I always wanted a 1/48 scale kit of it but the HobbyBoss copy was way out of my price range for a 1/48. As I gave up hope, KittyHawk released their version! Knowing KittyHawk I knew there would be some problems with the build and that for sure did happen. The first 70% of the build was going great. The cockpit, provided photoetch for the cockpit and seats. But the problems started with the forward landing gear being a little short in height and then guessing the secondary pylons to hold the weapons. The instructions have the what pylon could hold what weapons. But not the secondary pylons that hold the weapons to the main wing pylons. (The grey part that mounts to the blue winged pylon, those were the guess) I hope that makes sense....

The paint I used were a combo of Vallejo and mixed with other acrylics to get the shades I wanted. So here you go build number two. Next up Eduard's SU-22M4 kit.

Rod another impressive build. An aircraft I would love to see some day. I have built a 1/72 version, and know it was big. So how big is this one? Also ty for the information on Kittyhawk kits In my next build I am trying my first kittyhawk kit, so I will keep an eye on the detail.

That looks superb, and your work on the paint is excellent. It sounds like a brand that, as a born-again novice, I should avoid for now!

Great looking aircraft. My Kittyhawk experience was similar with their two-seat Jaguar. Complicated unnecessarily I thought.
