Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Flypast over LHR on 18th June to mark the 80th anniversary of De Gaulle's speech and founding of the French Air Force.
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Well that's not going to cause any sort of gathering, is it?
nothing is confirmed at a show until its u/c hits the tarmac or it is running in for its display.....

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
And what about Macron's quarantining?
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
So where can we watch that from?

What's the source for this info, I can't find anything online... Is this definite go ahead ?
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Does this even make sense given that the Queen's birthday flypast has been cancelled this year ?

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Can’t find anything on the NOTAMs for this.
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
it's probably to do with this; there are mentions of the PdF on Fightercontrol

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Latest info I've seen is...
1641 - departure from RAF Brize Norton
1656 - Flypast Bagshot
1658 - Flypast Richmond Park
1700 - Flypast Buckingham Palace
1702 - Formation Separation NE Brentwood/ Stapleford area after which the Red Arrows will return to RAF Scampton and the Patrouille de France back to Salon-de-Provence Air.
Don't think they are going over Heathrow by the looks of it, following the route of the M3, A316 by the looks of it. Close enough to be under Heathrow control though, which maybe the assumption of going over Heathrow?

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Nope, certainly not over LHR. They’re more or less following Helicopter route H3 from Bagshot, which follows the M3 towards Richmond Park.
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
So are they flying West to East over Buckingham Palace?
Don't they always go East to West?

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Are those times BST or Zulu?
I will be quite close to Bagshot on Thursday and would be disappointed to miss it by 1 hour!

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Sorry about that. I thought they would be following the same track as the reds flypast the other week.
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Ah so smoke to complement the mirrors of the current administration.
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
And back to the OP, it's to celebrate the anniversary of de Gaulle's first broadcast on the BBC to the French population calling for them to join him as the de facto Free-French leader. Nothing to do with the French Air Force. Mr Macron will be at 10 Downing Street, hence the location of the datum.
East to West is to accommodate PdF fuel situation to get back to base.

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Views of a flypast would not be great from a place like Downing St, would they? Very built up around there.
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Should there not have been a NOTAM or Temporary Flight Restrictions published by now for the areas covered by the flypast?
I live quite close to Bagshot so I may go there to view it.

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Are the Reds currently at home and practicing at Scampton?
Thinking about a trip up tomorrow but can’t find much online.
Appreciate these NOTAMs have been issued but I must say I’m not particularly au fait with them.
Cheers

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Prince Charles is meeting President Macron at Clarence House not far the Buckinham Palace on the afterrnoon of 18-06-2020.
If the formation goes in a straight line over Bagshot then over Richmond Park and onwards to Brentwood where they start to split up, the path takes the flypast over Clarence House and close if not over Buckinham Palace.
I presume President Macron and Prince Charles will see it there or close by, perhaps at Buckinham Palace.

Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
The Reds were at Brize on Monday, not sure if they’re still there.
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
The info issued by the CAA, upon which I based writing the ATC procedure, says Westminster 10 Downing St.
Re: Reds & Patrouille over Heathrow
Any confirmation of PdF arriving at Brize Norton (or any other UK destination ?) Could the Alpha Jet's fly from and return to France without a UK refuelling stop.
